Daniel Levy Must Stop Waiting Till Deadline Day
Daniel Levy has waited until deadline day once again to make any deals for Tottenham Hotspur. He must stop leaving it so late.
For a long time Daniel Levy has been a deadline day deal shopper. Much like someone who puts off their Christmas shopping until the last minute Mr. Levy waits till the very end of the window and then scrambles for whatever deals might be available as opposed to the ones that are the most necessary.
Triple DDD, not a reference to what would be most likely a lower back torturing set of mammory glands, but short for Deadline Day Daniel, though having done wonderful business on deadline days in the past needs to change his style moving forward.

A lot of this is credit to the work that he has done in dragging Spurs upwards as an organization. They’re stable competitively and financially now in a way that they weren’t for many years now in no small part down to him. He’s has done a remarkable job but his style needs to change with the times.
It does appear that he is stuck in a little bit of the small club mentality style of thinking and that’s no good. The truth is there are few players good enough to make Tottenham better at this point. They possess the best out and out striker in Europe and are one of the best attacking sides moving forward. The players that they need to improve will be hard to get at the beginning of the summer let alone at the end of the summer when they’re being chased by everybody else in Europe as well.
For a long time triple-D has used deadline day as a way to get the best value for money deals in the league. It’s why he has done such an incredible job crafting a side for Tottenham that would be worth more than double what he has paid for it over the years. That said especially with the transfer window changing he needs to change. Other clubs in Europe are no longer held to the same standards that Premier League ones are with the shortened transfer window. They’re not desperate at all. There’s no reason for them to negotiate smaller transfer fees knowing that they essentially have a full extra month to negotiate with other clubs.
Daniel Levy must be celebrated for how much he has changed the culture at Spurs in his time in charge. He though must also recognize that the culture has at this point perhaps changed beyond him.
