Spurs players must focus solely their attention on the two remaining monumental matches, as they mean everything to the club and supporters alike.

The importance of Tottenham’s two home matches against Newcastle and Leicester cannot be overstated. They mean everything to supporters who have sweat, lost sleep, cried, laughed and fought over their team for 37 emotionally taxing weeks.

Spurs players must adopt the almost non-existent memory of a chimpanzee and forget completely about the last four weeks. It’s time for the lads to put the mini-slump with which they’re enmeshed fully behind them.

More from Tottenham News

Newcastle and Leicester haven nothing, other than pride, to play for. Spurs, however, are after so much more than a Champions League berth. I shudder to think of the wide-reaching implications if Spurs fail to secure a top-four spot.

Some will revolt, causing undo stress on Mauricio Pochettino and the club he manages.

Failing to qualify for the Champions League could mean a mass exodus of talent, not to mention that it would be nigh on impossible to lure élite talent to Hotspur Way. Top players don’t want to play for a side that cannot offer Champions League football. It would also expedite Pochettino’s departure from the club.

There’s no need to sensationalize or embellish; it’s almost impossible to put into words what is on the line for Tottenham in their last 180 minutes of football this season.

Top teams and players embrace intense, high pressure and emotionally charged situations indicative of Wednesday and Sunday’s tilts.

Tottenham’s breathing room has evaporated, their buffer gone. It’s time for a star-studded team to fulfil their potential and show up for Pochettino and the millions worldwide who adore the club unconditionally.

The gaffer believes in you and so do we. In our moment of need, rise to the occasion and show the footballing world that Tottenham Football Club does not crumble or capitulate in the face of adversity.

Stand up, be counted and secure third place so, with your current team almost totally intact, you can enter the new state-of-the-art stadium in August like lions: fierce, uncompromising and strong enough to challenge either Liverpool or Real Madrid as Champions League king.

Otherwise, everything you’ve worked for since Pochettino arrived four years ago will vanish into thin air, and so too will some of your most prized possessions, along with the faith of faint-hearted fans.
