Those calling for Mauricio Pochettino’s head, after what he’s done to elevate the club, don’t have a loyal bone in their bodies and should be ashamed of themselves.

At the first sight of trouble, these so-called supporters have taken to social media in an outrageous quest to dethrone the best thing that has happened to Tottenham since the inception of the Premier League.

Spurs have finished fifth, third, second and, depending on the last two monumental fixtures, either third, fourth or fifth since taking the helm in 2014. A whisker away from claiming the title in 2015-16, Spurs are, indisputably, the top flight’s most consistent performer for three years.

More from Tottenham News

Spurs, both from a club and an individual player’s perspective, have progressed and materialized beyond the loftiest of expectations.

Seemingly overnight Dele Alli morphed into an international sensation, Harry Kane is arguably the most sought after striker in the world, Christian Eriksen is touted to be worth well over £100 million, Ben Davies transformed into a bonafide first-choice left back, Son Heung-Min is feared league-wide and Jan Vertonghen could marshal the backline of any team.

The gaffer deserves the lion’s share of credit for their personal achievements. Yet inexplicably, some still want him out.

The lack of loyalty and superfluous ungratefulness is enough to make even the most ardent supporter lose faith.

Pochettino has, for four years, worked tirelessly on trying to build an empire that will hold Spurs in good stead for the indefinite future. The gaffer bleeds Lilywhite, and it’s almost impossible to understand how some don’t see how important he is to Spurs continued progression and development

A word of warning for those who are so quick to write Spurs’ messiah off. Be careful what you wish for, as lambasting Pochettino will only expedite his exodus. And rest assured, if he leaves, so too will some of Spurs’ most valued assets.

He is the glue that holds Tottenham together, so proceed with caution, knowing precisely what ramifications your actions might have on the club you claim to love.

While no individual is more important than Tottenham FC, Pochettino has laid an unparalleled foundation.

If he leaves, watch it evaporate and pay close attention to the Mount Everest-size regression Tottenham will painstakingly endure in his absence.
