Are you taking the reports of Gareth Bale’s potential Tottenham return with a grain of salt, or do you think the Welshman will come back for a second stint in North London?

Gareth Bale returning to Spurs?

The writing is on the wall: Gareth Bale is almost definitely leaving Madrid, which could pave the way for a return to our beloved Lilywhites. His odds, via Oddschecker, have been sliced from 20/1 to 11/4.

Hampered by recurring injuries, Gareth Bale has played a periphery role in the last couple seasons at the Bernabeu. If he can avoid the injury bug, Bale would be a welcome addition to Spurs’ lineup. A match winner and exquisite talent, Bale has the ability to turn a game on its head in the blink of an eye, and would offer Spurs a special sort of European pedigree. Can the rumours actually be true this time around?

Andre Marriner named as ref for Chelsea match

Andre Marriner got the nod for Chelsea vs. Tottenham on Sunday. Marriner has officiated three Spurs’ matches, all of which ended in victory. He’s a quality official who takes himself out of the spotlight, which is a lot more than I can say for a number of other Premier League officials.

Goal of the year candidates

If the season ended today, which Tottenham goal would get honours for best of the year? Those plaudits would have to go to Victor Wanyama, who won’t score another goal in his career that resembles the long-range missile he scored at Anfield on Feb. 4.

The rocket flew into the roof of the net, drawing Spurs level at one with 10 minutes to play. The importance and quality of the strike makes it a shoo-in for goal of the year. Don’t expect anyone to score a better one for the rest of the season. Son Heung-Min’s cracker against West Ham is definitely a strong candidate for runner-up.
