Christian Eriksen’s season so far has been nothing short of outstanding, the Danish international has scored 11 goals and assisted nine for Mauricio Pochettino’s side and is showing no signs of slowing down.

Now Eriksen’s national team coach Age Hareide has shared his views on the midfielders excellent season so far, and he rates him as one of Europe’s best.

Speaking to Ritzau via the Daily Mail, Hareide declared that Eriksen was better than any current Barcelona and Real Madrid centre-midfielder:

‘When looking at the players that play centrally for Real Madrid and Barcelona, none of them are better than Christian.’

A bold statement to say the least, but one that could be argued to be true based on Eriksen’s current form. The Danish national coach then went on to say how he believes Eriksen would improve any big team in Europe:

‘I think he is a type that can adapt to anything, give him a ball, then the ball will speak for him wherever he is,’

I think its fair to say that Eriksen is proving his national coaches statements right, especially since Harry Kane got injured, the Danish international has seemingly gone into another gear, one that he showed in this past weekend’s FA Cup quarter-final against Swansea where he grabbed two goals.

It was the Danish boss’ next statement, however, comparing former Tottenham fan favourite Luka Modric to Eriksen that has got fans thinking:

‘Luka Modric came from Tottenham to Real Madrid, and he was not as good as Christian,’

High praise to say the least for the current man of the moment for Spurs, however, if Eriksen continues this fine form into the final stretch of the Premier League season and the World Cup for Denmark expect some of Europe’s biggest clubs to come looking to tempt him away from North-London.

Pochettino will be praying that Spurs won’t be having a repeat of the Luka Modric fiasco that saw the central midfielder leave for £27million to Real Madrid at the peak of his power’s back in 2012.
