Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes is reportedly growing frustrated of his playing time at the Nou Camp and wants a move away from the Spanish giants when the transfer window re-opens in the summer.

The Portuguese midfielder has been a known target for Spurs in the past, and Mauricio Pochettino may look to make a move for the unsettled midfielder.

Gomes signed for Barcelona back in the summer of 2016 from Valencia for a cool €35million but has failed to make the impact that the current Spanish league leaders wanted him to.

The midfielder recently spoke to Spanish Magazine Paneka via Talk Sport about his frustrations and current lack of enjoyment playing the game:

“I don’t feel well on the field, I am not enjoying the thing I like to do”  he said.

The Portuguese international then went on to explain the pressure on his shoulders at the moment and how this pressure is affecting his performances on the field:

“Maybe it’s not the correct word but it turned into a bit of a hell, because I started to feel more pressure, with pressure I feel fine, but with pressure on myself, I don’t. The feeling that I have during games is bad.”

These comments surely signify the end of Gomes’ time at the Nou Camp and the perfect opportunity for Spurs to make a move if they want the midfielder to be their player for the start of next season.

Gomes helped Portugal to their famous European Championship win back in 2016, beating hosts France 1-0 in extra time to hand his country their first ever major international title.

And if Gomes can rediscover the kind of form that saw him win the Euros with his country, he would be a welcomed addition to the Spurs midfield.

The 24-year-old already has a glittering trophy cabinet and may be seen as a worthy replacement for Moussa Dembele, who has sparked interest from a host of European’s elite clubs with impressive performances for Spurs the past few seasons.

Gomes has played 25 times for Barcelona so far this season, assisting once and failing to score in any of the appearances he has made.

The European Championship winner will indeed have to up his game if he wants Spurs and Pochettino to come calling in the summer, however, if there is any manager in the world to get the best out of a young talent who is suffering from lack of confidence, it’s Pochettino.
