So we all know how last night went, in a thrilling tie over two legs our lads just came up short in securing a place in the hallowed Champions League quarter-finals and were knocked out by the experienced and savvy Italian champions Juventus.

Nevertheless, everyone needs to wipe away the tears and banish those thoughts of disappointment, no matter how hard it might seem right now.

The beautiful game has its ups and downs, something we are all too aware of, however, if there is something we do know it’s that Pochettino won’t let this Spurs side dwell on Wednesday night’s result and we’ll bounce back stronger.

With all that said, let’s look at four things Spurs can still be positive about after exiting the Champions League last night.

More from Champions League

1.  We still have a chance at silverware
Not all chances to earn a trophy are over with the Champions League exit. We have an FA Cup quarter-final to look forward to against Swansea next weekend. Spurs are the most in-form team in the competition alongside Manchester United.

A good result next week and a favourable semi-final draw could see us putting an end to this 16-year drought and reinforcement of Pochettino’s hard work over the past four years.

2. The top four is still very much in our grasp
We currently sit fourth in the Premier League, five points clear of Chelsea in fifth. Another top-four finish this season would cement our place as one of the leagues big teams and gives us a chance at playing Champions League football in our new stadium- an exciting thought.

Furthermore, after a terrific campaign in the tournament this year we can return a more seasoned and mature side and perhaps get redemption after last night’s result.

3. This year’s Champions League campaign will be good for us in the long-run
Yes, we crashed out in dramatic style. However, it was to a team that has won their league six seasons in a row, as well as reaching the final of the competition twice in the past three years. To be perfectly honest, we were the better team over the two-legs.

Experience sincerely told in last night’s result, and this is a quality we can take with us now into other games and competitions. We have nothing to be ashamed of; it’s been a campaign we can be proud of and learn from.

4. We are and can compete with the best in Europe
If this year’s Champions League campaign truly showed us anything, it’s that Spurs can compete with the best teams in Europe, which wasn’t possible a few years ago. Beating Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and coming agonisingly close to hoisting a very-experienced Juventus side out of the competition just shows we’re not well and truly amongst it.

Trophies will come: we have a young side who have come so far already, so don’t lose faith in them now.

We’ll come back stronger than before, starting with Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon, so keep faith, our time will come.
