Tottenham 2 – 0 Chelsea

Once again, Tottenham faced off against the team pundits agreed would run away with the title.

Unlike City though, Chelsea were in the midst of something truly historic. They had won 13 of their previous matches, a league record-equaling amount. Antonio Conte’s side were unquestionably the best in the country then they traveled to White Hart Lane in early January.

Tottenham were on a streak of their own. They had won each match since Hull’s visit in mid-December by a combined goal-line of 10-3.

No one quite expected Spurs to look as good as they did against Chelsea. Pochettino matched Conte’s own three-at-the-back formation, and instructed his full-backs to play aggressively despite the Blues’ own threat from out wide.

The result was that Chelsea got caught out on multiple occasions, with Victor Moses’ small stature being exploited specifically for both of Dele’s nearly identical goals.

Chelsea’s streak snapped, Spurs would continue on their own run of wins that would firmly establish them in the Premier League title race right through the final weeks of the season.
