Welcome to Matchday Live, where we’ll be providing live(ish) updates from Tottenham’s Champions League match against Bayer Leverkusen.

Tottenham currently sit second in the Group E table on three points. Monaco’s win over Spurs and their subsequent draw against Leverkusen has them in first with four, meaning that results on Tuesday could put Mauricio Pochettino’s team on top.

It won’t simply be a matter of hoping for such a result to come. Leverkusen arguably represent the biggest challenge to Tottenham in Group E. Manager Roger Schmidt prefers a very similar pressing system to Tottenham’s, and will be looking to actively disrupt Tottenham’s run off fine form this season.

Elsewhere Monaco travel to CSKA Moscow, where Tottenham struggled last time out but still ended up with an invaluable win.

In the lead up to the line ups being announced an hour before the first whistle, take a gander at some of our coverage ahead of Tuesday’s match.

Alex Balano covered the club’s reaction to Toby Alderweireld’s injury here and here. As to how Pochettino will respond as the Belgian sits out, we covered the club’s options here.

Leverkusen will be a tricky test, and if precedence acts as any guide Tottenham can expect to struggle. Check out our opposition scouting report for more details.

After a rotated side failed to beat West Brom on Saturday, we tend to think that Pochettino will name a strong XI for Tuesday’s match.
