Clive Allen is Impressed with Tottenham’s Son Heung-Min
Former Tottenham forward Clive Allen has recently been impressed by Son Heung-Min for his goalscoring form at the moment.
To recap, the 24-year-old’s past six games have seen Son score five goals in all competitions: four in the Premier League and one in the Champions League.
If you include South Korea’s World Cup qualifier against Qatar yesterday, Son found the back of the net once again.
At the moment, it appears that Son Heung-Min just can’t stop scoring which is great news for Spurs as he is currently Mauricio Pochettino’s best player.
From one goalscorer to another, Clive Allen spoke with Tottenham’s official site and explained what has impressed him the most about the left winger’s season.
“I think Son looks really confident and comfortable within the group at the moment and his goalscoring is showing that he’s a taker of chances,” Allen said.
“That’s good news because with the unfortunate injury to Harry Kane, we needed someone to take on the mantle of scoring consistently.”
“Son is really positive in the positions he’s getting into and then when the chances are being created, he’s been very clinical.”
Since returning from the Rio Olympics, it can’t be stated enough, how in-form Son Heung-Min has been to start his second season with Tottenham. Not only is he scoring goals but he’s picked up a couple of assists as well.
Last season the South Korean international’s hot start to the Premier League quickly ended after a foot injury last September. Despite making 40 appearances in all competitions last term, Son split time as a starter (13 games) and a substitute (15 games) in 28 Premiership matches.

Mauricio Pochettino managed to get Son involved throughout the year but he couldn’t nail down a permanent starting job.
After all, Spurs needed Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Érik Lamela in the starting XI last season as all four players were critical in helping Tottenham finish third last term.
This year it’s a different story. Son Heung-Min is now fully entrenched in Pochettino’s lineup as his first-choice left winger, starting in six of eight games in all competitions since the Olympics ended.
The two matches Son didn’t play, he was on the bench as an unused substitute. Only once has the 24-year-old not complete the full 90 minutes and that was against AS Monaco in the Champions League — being subbed off at half-time.
With a brace against both Stoke City and Middlesbrough and 23 shot attempts all in the month of September, Son has only two things on his mind: to score goals and help Spurs win.
So far, he has done that helping Tottenham go unbeaten in the Premier League and winning five straight matches. Plus, being Spurs’ leading goalscorer this season with Harry Kane recovering from an ankle injury.
“That illustrates that he’s getting into situations where he can take on chances and with that, he’s finding the goal consistently,” Clive Allen added.
“He also has a change of direction and pace which is always vital, especially in one-on-one situations. As soon as you see him on the ball one-on-one you are confident he can go by the defender and with that in mind, teammates will give him the ball and give him that opportunity to take players on.”
“He looks a real danger at the moment and long may it continue.

At some point, Son Heung-Min’s form will eventually cool off, but for the time being the South Korean winger is showing what he can do when he’s given a chance to start consistently.
Tottenham are once again getting contributions from a whole host of players — offense and defense — in terms of scoring goals. To have Son become the focal point, it helps lessen the loss of Harry Kane this early in the season.
