Georges-Kévin N’Koudou could be another hidden gem that was unearthed by Tottenham.

After finally completing his long awaited transfer, Tottenham winger Georges-Kévin N’Koudou is ready to help Spurs out in anyway he possibly can.

To help get a better idea of what the French winger could do, Damien Degorre a respected journalist for L’Equipe spoke with Spurs TV to help go over some of the nuances as to why N’Koudou could be very special in England after joining Spurs.

In the past year, N’Koudou has made a name for himself by playing with a depleted Olympique Marseille side that was on the verge of relegation.

Amassing 41 appearances and 10 goals in a promising season last year for the 21-year-old, Damien Degorre had nothing but praise for N’Koudou.

“Honestly, I was very impressed about his season in Marseille last season,” Degorre said (via Tottenham’s official site).

“I saw Georges-Kévin play with Nantes one year before and I could not envisage at that moment that he would improve like he did last season with Marseille.”

“He became more efficient, he became more important in the game. It’s as if he made two years [of progress] in one year.”

“In Nantes it was like he was a child but in Marseille he became an adult and there is a reason why France coach Didier Deschamps regards him as a possible international in the next few years.”

Mauricio Pochettino was looking for a player that could offer pace and add another threat to his second line of offense (Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Érik Lamela).

By signing Georges-Kévin N’Koudou, Pochettino may have gotten what he was looking for as Degorre continues explaining.

“He has great pace but not only that, he’s also efficient in the last 20 metres and in decisive moments.”

“I’m sure that with Tottenham, with a coach like Mauricio Pochettino who knows how to make players improve like he did last season, Georges-Kévin can be more and more influential.”

“In the Premier League there is some space that you don’t necessarily have in Ligue 1. Georges-Kévin is a player who likes space and he is able to take advantage of that.”

Having someone who can operate as either a starter or impact sub is what Spurs need this season when their starters are feeling tired.

Or when Tottenham need a breakthrough and a pair of fresh legs can do the trick.

Even with 10 goals last season, N’Koudou believes that he can score more and is hoping he can actually pull it off.

“Scoring 10 goals isn’t too bad for a player in my position and hopefully I will score more this year – it will happen as time goes by,” N’Koudou said (via Tottenham’s official site).

That said, while contributing with goals would be great, the Frenchman knows that piling up assists is just as important. In general, N’Koudou is looking to make an impact one way or another when he’s on the pitch.

“I did score quite a few goals last season but scoring goals myself or assisting my team-mates is the same for me,” added the 21-year-old.

“When I enter the pitch I just want to play well, put on a good performance, listen to what people can teach me and show my strengths within the team in order to get better.”

The only thing that will slow Georges-Kévin N’Koudou’s progress from succeeding in the Premier League is how quickly he adapts to the style of play.

Once he does, Damien Degorre knows he’ll only continue to build on what he showed last season.

“You have to understand that it’s a step up for him to sign for Tottenham.”

“The player himself has to know that if a club like Tottenham takes him, it’s because he can be better and better. I’m sure he will be.”
