Tottenham are once again flying under the radar this season.

Last term before Tottenham had a bad four-game stretch to close out the 2015-16 campaign, Spurs were overlooked.

Had it not been for Leicester City, Mauricio Pochettino’s side would have been the talk of the town, but their fairy tale story was hard to ignore.

Despite all of the attention the Foxes’ received, Spurs massively benefited by the lack of respect they were getting.

Due to lackluster performances by the Premier League’s Big Five last year, Tottenham broke into the top-four and people took notice.

This season they’re looking to repeat the feat again.

With Spurs picking up four points in their first two games, it leaves them in seventh place.

It’s a pretty good start for the North London club, just sitting outside of the top-four in a year where expectations are even higher this term compared to last.

Yet here we stand, Tottenham are not being talked about as much again. It’s both Manchester clubs, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and even Leicester.

For Harry Kane, he says that Spurs prefer to be overlooked as it worked last season. It’s to be expected that they will do just as well this year.

“Let the talk be about everyone else, like it was last season and we will just keep doing what we are doing,” Kane said (via London Evening Standard).

“We went through a lot last season, both highs and lows, so we have got that experience together.”

“The gaffer has created a brotherhood between the players and we have a great team bond.”

“We said before the Palace game that we did not want to fall too far behind the leaders already. There are some top teams this season and we have to stay up the top.”

Since Mauricio Pochettino arrived, he has been changing the culture in the changing room.

Gone are players who didn’t fit into Pochettino’s plans. but also the ones who aren’t up to the task to get better whether they’re starting games or not.

Kane called them “bad eggs” back in February of this year.

“Everyone in this group works hard and is working towards the same thing,” the 23-year-old explained.

“Even the players who don’t play are still working hard in training and doing all the right things to try to get into the team, which is important.”

“If you have one or two bad eggs, it can bring others down — and we don’t have that.”

“Everyone is fighting for each other and we are in a lot of competitions, so people know they will play games to try to impress the manager. We’ve got to try to keep that belief high.”

“It has been another year with the manager, building his philosophy. We had a good pre-season and we have a good bunch of lads.”

More or less, the simplest way to look at Spurs’ success recently is down to how close the players are, from the first-team to the academy players.

“There are some pretty good players in this squad and everyone is together, which is important,” Harry Kane added.

“There is nobody who doesn’t want to train or who tries to take it easy, because none of the players would let him do that.”

“Everyone speaks up and tells each other what is needed to be done to reach the top, which is why we’ve got a great team. Everyone is chipping in and that is all we can ask for.”

All of the attention could be placed on the other Premier League teams whether they deserve it or not.

And while it seems a tad annoying that no one wants to talk about Tottenham, they’re better off getting less coverage.

Like Harry Kane said, last season Spurs went about their business and did very well.

This year, the Premier League is more difficult but Spurs who didn’t need a complete makeover should make it into the top-four once again.
