After the conclusion of Tottenham’s 6-1 rout over Inter Milan yesterday, Dele Alli had some good things to say about Vincent Janssen with the midfielder praising the Dutchman’s overall performance.

It hasn’t been even a full month since Vincent Janssen signed with Tottenham back on July 12 for £17 million from AZ Alkmaar, but that hasn’t stopped the Dutch striker from looking comfortable with the rest of Spurs’ regular starters in Norway.

Despite playing mostly with Spurs’ fringe first-team players and academy graduates for three closed door friendlies and two games in Australia against Juventus and Atlético Madrid, Janssen has quickly shown he is a good fit for Tottenham following their pre-season matches.

“He’s [Janssen] a great player and showed what he’s got to offer,” Dele Alli said (via Sky Sports).

“He scored a goal, and for mine I just played it to him, he laid it off and I put it in the back of the net”.

With Tottenham having two strikers who can score plenty of goals Spurs could now theoretically line up in a 4-4-2 formation, something that was done for about 20 minutes or so when Janssen was brought in the second half.

This saw Harry Kane drop deeper to accommodate the Dutchman to lead Spurs’ attack. As for the 23-year-old Englishman, scoring a brace is something that everyone has come to expect and Alli basically summed it up the best.

“I’m also pleased for Harry,” Alli continued.

“You know what you’re going to get with him. You know he’s going to score goals whoever he plays against and it’s two great finishes for him and I’m sure he’ll be delighted.”

As for the team’s performance against Inter Milan? The result that matters most is how fit the players were, how they played individually and collectively, as well as no one getting hurt.

The scoreline could be a precursor as to what Tottenham are capable of when they’re running on all cylinders. And while it’s a pre-season friendly, there’s no reason why the fans, the players and Mauricio Pochettino can’t be happy with a big win.

“We’re delighted with the win and it was important to get that for confidence ahead of the new season,” Dele Alli said.

“It was a great performance by the team and just what we needed.”

On his own performance, Alli was quick to note that he still has to get back to match fitness but as a team, they’re ready for the season opener next Saturday and are looking to get the season off to a good start.

“I felt a bit rusty to be honest, but it was good to get the cobwebs off and get some minutes. We’re ready and raring to go now for the first game against Everton.”

“After today’s performance we are going to be raring for the first whistle to go. It’s important to get a win on the first day of the season. We’re all excited and I’m sure the mood will be good.”

Mauricio Pochettino will make sure that Vincent Janssen is brought along slowly to start the 2016-17 season off, but if he has quickly adapted to the Argentine’s system and is developing a good rapport with his teammates, Janssen could feature much quickly than expected.

If that’s the case, Tottenham could be looking at a very good year this season with an attacking group that could rival it’s solid defensive wall that conceded a joint-best 35 goals last term.
