Five Tottenham News Items To Watch For This Week

One winger comes in…
It feels like months since it was first revealed that Tottenham had a bid accepted for Olympique de Marseille winger Georges-Kévin Nkoudou, and yet still there doesn’t appear to have been any movement.
To be fair, the news that Nkoudou’s arrival was imminent came very quickly. There was very little of the rigmarole and false starts we saw with Victor Wanyama and Vincent Janssen earlier in the season; the rumor seemed to become fact basically overnight.

That’s not typically the way any transfer goes down however, much less one in which Tottenham and Daniel Levy are involved. These things take weeks, sometimes months to unfurl, and to the seasoned observer it was clear that Nkoudou would not be donning a Tottenham shirt immediately.
And indeed there seems to be some complications, though not involving Nkoudou directly. As an addendum to the deal, or perhaps as a key part of it, Tottenham were expected to send one of their current players in the opposite direction. If rumors are to be believed, that is what’s prevented the transfer from being finalized.
