Alex Pritchard Set for Possible Tottenham Exit
One player who might not get a chance to play for Tottenham Hotspur next season is Alex Pritchard, partially because of his injury and being at the bottom of the totem pole at his position.
Perhaps one of the more shocking transfer rumors involving Tottenham this summer is that Alex Pritchard may be nearing an exit soon. It’s not 100 percent positive at the moment, but according to Sky Sports‘ Lyall Thomas, it’s a possibility, which is more than enough to get the wheels rolling.

Based on talent alone, Pritchard would fit right in as a rotational player in Mauricio Pochettino’s three attacking midfield roles as he has experience playing at the number 10 position and out wide as a left midfielder.
If that wasn’t enough, at the age of 23, Alex Pritchard is ideally suited for Spurs’ youth movement which the Argentine manager has been working on for two seasons now by buying young prospects and promoting from the club’s academy.
One would think that all Pritchard needed was time. Time to not only show he belongs on this Tottenham team but time to heal a nagging ankle injury he suffered last summer while playing for England’s Under-21 team.
Per Sky Sports, here’s what Thomas wrote on Alex Pritchard’s situation:
"“Tottenham are prepared to sell Alex Pritchard this summer and are asking for a fee in the region of £8 million, according to Sky sources.”“It is understood that two Premier League clubs have shown interest in the attacker, while a host of Championship clubs would be keen to sign the 23-year-old.”"
Interest in Alex Pritchard has always been high, especially after playing a vital role during the 2014-15 season in which he helped Brentford (with Mark Warburton as the manager) almost reach promotion to the Premier League before being knocked out by Middlesbrough in the semi-finals of the Championship play-offs.

Pritchard’s season-long loan with the Bees was a successful one, to the point that he and Tottenham agreed on a four-year contract extension last August while also being given assurances that he would compete for a spot on the first-team.
Injuries no doubt can play a factor in a player’s role with his team and because of that one serious ankle injury suffered while away on international duty last summer, Alex Pritchard managed just four appearances split among Tottenaham and West Bromwich Albion.
All of which were substitute appearances, one for Spurs and three for the Baggies, respectively last season in what ended up being a lost year.
Again, Pritchard needs time to heal and get back to 100 percent fitness, but with Dele Alli the starter at central attacking midfield, Christian Eriksen starting at left midfield and Son Heung-Min capable of playing both positions.
Plus, when you add in Nacer Chadli, Clinton N’Jie and even Josh Onomah (who has no complaints about playing out wide), it makes Alex Pritchard seem like surplus to requirements in just one season.

This has happened before with a fan favorite, Lewis Holtby, and he unfortunately didn’t get many chances to stick around before being sold prematurely. At this rate, whether this transfer rumor is to be believed or not, Alex Pritchard’s time with Tottenham might be up because of an unfortunate injury and being below other players in the totem pole at his position.
There are no specifics on which clubs are currently interested but at £8 million that can either be looked at as too much for a player who didn’t play much at all last season. Or too little for a 23-year-old who still oozes talent if given a chance.
