1. Toby Alderweireld

To win five individual awards absolutely speaks for itself. Toby Alderweireld won the One Hotspur Members Player of the season, the Supporters Clubs player of the season, the Europa League Squad of the season, the Facebook Football Awards Best XI, and the Premier League PFA Team of the Year. On top of that, Alderweireld appeared in 49 matches for the club across three different competitions, scoring five goals along the way. From centre-back.

Alderweireld was consistently praised throughout the season and deserved every bit of it along the way. For what it’s worth, Alderweireld was the best signing of any Premier League team and Tottenham were lucky to have him this season and are lucky to have him going forward. He helps anchor the defense and makes Tottenham a very difficult team to play against.

None of the players purchased this season would be considered “busts” from a footballing perspective and that is a good thing for the club. On the business side of things, it also looks like these can only be appreciating assets and that bodes well for the club’s future as well. Tottenham had a strong, positive season this year and the new faces were a big reason why. Here’s hoping Tottenham can buy smart again this summer and we can be writing a similar article this time next year.
