Ranking Tottenham’s New Additions
By Peter Brewis
4. Kieran Trippier
Kieran Trippier made 19 appearances for Tottenham this season, with ten of them coming in the Europa League, including the loss over two legs to Borussia Dortmund.
Trippier played a very obvious “rotational” role this year. His job, put simply, was to give Kyle Walker a rest. And to be fair, he did a good enough job of that. In Pochettino’s system, full-backs are required to cover quite a bit of ground. Therefore, it’s impossible to expect the starting full backs to play excessive minutes.

Trippier’s most memorable moment came in February with a goal against Watford where he found himself on the end of a Dele Alli cross and was able to smash it home to give Tottenham the victory.
While he certainly wasn’t brought in to score goals, Trippier played a vital role as a squad player this season. However, with DeAndre Yedlin coming back from a strong loan to Sunderland, it will be interesting to see how Pochettino and his staff determine what happens going forward with the back up full-backs.
