Tottenham Hotspur’s star striker, Harry Kane, will be taking part in his first major tournament with England, when they compete in this summer’s 2016 European Championship in France.

While Roy Hodgson has yet to trim three players from his provisional 26-man England squad that he picked recently, one player in question — Tottenham’s Harry Kane — is excited to not only play in this summer’s Euros. But, to do so alongside Leicester City’s, Jamie Vardy, and Manchester United’s, Marcus Rashford.

To partner up with Jamie Vardy, and have the Premier League’s top two English strikers would cause quite the headache for opposing managers and defenses due to their contrasting styles and how both compliment one another.

“If we are playing together it will be very exciting,” said Kane, the winner of the Golden Boot award after scoring 25 goals this past term (via BBC Sport).

“If the manager puts us together we will be ready to go and try to score as many goals as we can.”

“We are different sort of players – he has got a lot of pace and can run in behind. That will probably allow me to drop off and get into space,” Harry Kane added.

As for playing with, or just watching Manchester United striker, Marcus Rashford, Kane can’t wait to see what the 18-year-old can do for the Three Lions should he make the final squad for England.

After breaking into Louis van Gaal’s first team, Rashford has been sensational for the Red Devils in 17 matches by scoring eight goals. At just the age of 18, the England striker has taken the Premier League by storm, and Kane along with everyone else has taken notice of the young kid’s talents.

“He’s been outstanding,” Harry Kane said (via London Evening Standard). “Full credit to him, he deserves his place.”

“He’s young, he’s come in and shown no fear of playing on the big stage and he’s just expressed himself.”

“He’s not been fazed by playing in the Premier League and hopefully he can take that onto the international stage.”

“We are looking forward to meeting him when he reports next week, seeing his ability.”

“He’s shown – the back end of the season – that he can score goals and he’s a real talent.”

That said, what it really comes down to for Harry Kane is ultimately taking a part in the Euros this summer. Two years ago, he was watching England compete in the 2014 World Cup with his girlfriend while on a trip to Dubai.

Fast forward to now, after England’s surprisingly quick exit in Brazil, and Kane has become one of his country’s best players after two very productive seasons with Tottenham.

“It’s strange, it probably won’t sink in until we get out there and it all starts, but it’s a great feeling to be part of it,” Kane said ahead of Sunday’s match against Turkey (via ESPN FC).

“The whole team are the same, very excited. Now the [club] season is over, we’re itching to get out there, see what it’s like and get going.”

“A lot of us it’s our first major tournament. There’s no real fear, we are not scared to play our football. Throughout the whole international year we’ve been playing well, we’ve been going out and trying to play good football.

“We’ve been scoring goals, pressing high. That’s what the manager wants us to do and that’s what we’ll try to do. There’s been some disappointments over the years but now we’ve got a great young side, we’re very excited about the tournament and we’ve got no fear.

“We’ll go out, play our football and express ourselves and see where that takes us.”

Everyone already knows what Harry Kane can bring to the table just based on his two years as Tottenham’s lone — and only out-and-out — striker. But despite the pressure to play by himself up top in Mauricio Pochettino’s 4-2-3-1 formation, teams have yet to fully stop him.

Kane’s early season struggles were mostly down to him and trying to score so that he wouldn’t seem like a one-season wonder. As soon as his teammates helped pick up the slack, Kane would return to his goal scoring ways.

Should England, and especially Harry Kane, have a very productive campaign in this year’s European championships, it won’t be surprising to see the 22-year-old continue to challenge for more Golden Boot awards and help lead Tottenham to greater heights.
