Tottenham’s Season in Ten Matches
By Ryan Wrenn
Bournemouth 1 – 5 Tottenham, October 25th
The victory over City wasn’t the end of Tottenham’s heartburn, however. Three consecutive draws in the Premier League and Europa League followed, a run of middling form capped with a shock loss away to Anderlect toward the end of October.
A visit to recently promoted Bournemouth felt surprisingly like it could have gone either way. When Matt Richie scored in the first minute, it seemed as if Tottenham fans would be asked to suffer through another 90 minutes of disappointment.

Kane wouldn’t have it though. Tottenham’s homegrown striker was having a rough start to the season, having only scored once prior to the trip to Bournemouth. Some thought that his 30 goal season last time out was a fluke, and that he wouldn’t be unable to capture that same spark a second time.
Beginning with a penalty scored in the eight minute of this match, that narrative began to slow and then reverse. Thanks in part to some horrendous mistakes by Bournemouth keeper Artur Boruc, Tottenham managed to be up 3-1 by half-time and then finish it 5-1, complete with a hat-trick from Kane himself.
A victory over lowly Bournemouth was nice, but it paled in comparison to Tottenham having their local hero back. Kane would go on to win the Premier League’s Golden Boot with 25 goals to his credit.
