Tottenham’s Season in Ten Matches
By Ryan Wrenn
Chelsea 2 – 2 Tottenham, May 2nd
Tottenham fans might not remember this late-season match fondly. The result gifted the Premier League title to Leicester, for one. The behavior of Tottenham’s players during the match itself didn’t speak well of the team either.
What no one — not even Tottenham fans — can deny is that it was a thrilling match. Tottenham seemed in control in the first half, going up two goals thanks to Kane and Son. Attitudes and concentration disintegrated in the second half, resulting in a slew of yellow cards and, worse, two goals from Chelsea.
Still, beneath the disappointment of missing out on the title and the ignominy of Mousa Dembélé’s prolonged suspension lied the same ability and drive that had made this one of the most memorable seasons in Tottenham’s history.

Pochettino has crafted a team that is not lacking in desire. Sometimes that desire comes out in unfortunate ways as it did in this match, but properly channeled it creates a season’s worth of dramatic improvement and amazing performances. While no one wants to see scenes like the ones played out in this match against Chelsea, Pochettino will be joined by most Tottenham fans in hoping that this team wants the title as much as they did here next season and beyond.
