If Michy Batshuayi were to leave Olympique Marseille this summer, his preferred move would be to join Tottenham over West Ham United.

According to Tom Collomosse of the London Evening Standard, should Michy Batshuayi leave Olympique Marseille, the Belgian striker would prefer to join Tottenham over London rivlas, West Ham, and the current 2015-16 Serie A champions, Juventus.

It should come as no surprise that Batshuayi would rather join Tottenham if he were to play in the Premier League. In one instance, playing for Mauricio Pochettino will no doubt help an already prolific goalscorer this season, continue that kind of production when partnered up with Harry Kane.

But more importantly, the allure of Champions League football is too good to pass up.

West Ham United have had a very good season as well, but because they’re eight points adrift of fourth-placed Arsenal, and are in contention for the Europa League at the very least, Michy Batshuayi has made it known that Champions League football is what he wants.

As for Juventus, the Premier League will be getting an increase in revenue due to a new TV deal, therefore the amount of money that Batshuayi could earn on his weekly wages would be more than enough to spur the 32-time Serie A champions.

At just 22-years-old and valued at £25 million, signing the Belgian international would no doubt improve the striker position by having a one-two punch to help spearhead what is starting to resemble a scary offensive attack with Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Érik Lamela in the starting lineup.

There’s no question that Tottenham are very interested in Batshuayi since his playing days with Standard Liege before joining Marseille in the summer of 2014.

And with Mauricio Pochettino only having one out-and-out striker, despite the amount of money needed to be spent in order to sign the Belgian striker, playing in the Champions League means more depth is needed and a must.

After already having an issue with both West Bromwich Albion and Fulham for Saido Berahino and Moussa Dembélé, respectively, now is the time to find some help for Kane.

Signing a striker who has scored 20 goals in 47 appearances in all competitions this season for Marseille would be a better signing when just compared with Berahino and Dembélé.

At the same time, it’s still entirely possible that this move doesn’t happen since Michy Batshuayi hasn’t exactly committed to Tottenham yet. It’s just being reported on where he would prefer to play — which are two different things.

Now assuming that Mauricio Pochettino and Spurs don’t sign the Belgian forward, Son Heung-Min and Clinton N’Jie could fill in as strikers perfectly. But that of course might not help Tottenham get far in the Champions League.

And one way to avoid a one-and-done scenario is to obviously get a proven goalscorer to partner up with Harry Kane.

Money will be the only issue and after spending more than £30-plus million for both Son and N’Jie and only getting an okay return in their investment despite injuries to both players. So, will Tottenham want to spend big money once again?

Since the summer sale of Gareth Bale in 2013, Tottenham spent plenty of money to fill the void and while Érik Lamela is finally turning the corner, he still cost £30 million. Whereas Son Heung-Min was worth £22 million.

If Michy Batshuayi is signed this summer, he would most likely be the third big signing in four summer windows that Tottenham have gone all out to add an attacking player.
