Spurs’ Pochettino is Proud Everyone Backs Leicester to Win
Although it’s a two-team race for the Premier League title, Spurs continue to be overlooked as everyone wants to see Leicester City pull off a miracle in sports history by lifting the trophy despite a 5000:1 odds of winning it all.
Prior to Spurs’ match against West Bromwich Albion on Monday night at White Hart Lane, former players and managers have talked about wanting Leicester City to lift the trophy at the end of the season. Which shouldn’t be surprising based on the Foxes’ Cinderella-like campaign this term.

To begin the season with a heavily lopsided odds of 5000:1 to win the title — the biggest odds ever in sports history — who wouldn’t want to see Claudio Ranieri’s side pull off a major upset?
Of course, standing in Leicester’s way despite a five point gap are Spurs. Who will no doubt push the Foxes to their limits and try to ruin their chance at Premier League glory now that Jamie Vardy’s two-match ban will be in effect starting tomorrow and last until May 2nd.
And although people continue to show support for Leicester, especially Cesc Fàbregas whose Chelsea side hosts Leicester and Spurs in May, Mauricio Pochettino isn’t fazed one bit. In fact, he’s proud that people are picking the Foxes to win.
“I believe that in football the players are professional the managers are professional,” Pochettino said (quotes via ESPN FC).
“We are too exposed on the media and sometimes we need to say something interesting. Maybe sometimes it’s not the case and my press conferences are boring!”
“I feel proud if other players want Leicester to win the league. Maybe we are worrying them a lot, more than we believe.”

It might seem like mind games coming from the Argentine manager to say that he’s “proud” of everyone who has backed Leicester ever since the Christmas period to lift the trophy.
But quite frankly, what else is there to say other than focusing on the next fixture that’s coming up? Because there isn’t really.
Right now, the only thing Spurs can do is prepare for a struggling West Brom team coming off of a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
And at the moment, the Baggies are there for the taking after losing their fourth straight game in their last five matches to have a dismal five-game winless streak.
Three points are up for grabs for Mauricio Pochettino and his squad, so they have to put Tony Pulis’ side away this time around after a one-all draw in their reverse fixture back on December 5th at the Hawthorns.

No team is easy to beat in the Premier League, but if there ever was a time and place to pick up three points at a crucial part of the season with a chance to potentially lift up a title. Then facing an out of form West Brom team is the best opponent to close a five-point gap to just two points.
Therefore, it’s good that people continue to overlook Spurs during these last four fixtures while they go out and pile on more points to set up an interesting month of May. Where it could be a winner-take-all situation just like it was four years ago between Manchester United and Manchester City.
