Although Arsenal are 11 points behind Leicester City and six points behind Tottenham, the Gunners still have a game in hand to make up enough ground in the league table.

It’s easy to scoff at anything Arsenal-related because they’re Tottenham’s fiercest rivals due to close proximity, as both clubs are based in north London (and are a bit closer after the Gunners moved from Highbury to Holloway).

But still, that doesn’t mean Spurs can assume that Arsenal are officially eliminated from competing for a Premier League title. With Tottenham’s starting goalkeeper and team captain, Hugo Lloris, wanting his teammates to only focus on themselves and no one else, even if the Gunners having a game in hand could be a big difference maker come the end of the season.

“We can talk a bit about Arsenal as well,” Hugo Lloris talking to Sky Sports News HQ.

“They are behind us but have played one less game so I think the key is to be focused on ourselves, don’t think about the other teams.”

Looking ahead to Spurs’ next two games, it’ll be tough despite what has happened to both Liverpool and Manchester United throughout the year.

Since Jürgen Klopp took over the managerial role with the Merseyside club and got them inside the top ten after picking up only 12 points in eight games with Brendan Rodgers, and the fact that Tottenham haven’t won at Anfield since 2011, the stakes are extremely high to get a much needed win on the road on Saturday.

Beating Manchester United at home also won’t be easy because they too have a game in hand (having only played 30 matches so far).

Not to mention that Louis van Gaal’s side this season have managed to get very good results against the current top five teams (Leicester, Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester City and West Ham) with a 3W-3D-1L record.

“We have two tough games ahead with Liverpool away and Manchester United at home and maybe we will see a bit more after those games,” added Hugo Lloris.

“In football anything is possible so we just need to play games and enjoy it with our fans.”

The saying of “in football, anything is possible” is very true because Leicester City and Tottenham — as well as the big five of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and both Manchester clubs — have shown that the Premier League table can indeed be flipped on it’s head.

And while Tottenham are currently in form and have been one of two consistently best teams in the Premiership this season, the other being Leicester, Liverpool (under Klopp) and Manchester United (mostly Man United) have managed to record good results against the top five clubs in the league table right now.

So literally, “anything is possible” once the the Premier League returns on April 2nd with Tottenham travelling to Anfield.

And as mentioned above, with Spurs having not won a league game at Anfield since May 14, 2011 which is of course a very long time ago, picking up a win now is very much needed.

Whether this current team under Mauricio Pochettino can break a streak of four consecutive games without a win (draw in 2012 and losses from 2013-2015) remains to be seen.

But with how the season has panned out for both teams, it shouldn’t be surprising that Tottenham’s form heading into the international break, as well as their players on international duty all coming back mostly healthy will all be ready to continue their title push for the remaining seven games.
