Tottenham and Norwich’s first meeting ended 3-0 on Boxing Day. The reverse fixture had an identical finish.

Tottenham exited the January transfer window without signing a striker and loaning Federico Fazio to Sevilla for the rest of the season. No depth was added at the striker and center-back positions despite certain “needs” to provide cover for both Harry Kane and Kevin Wimmer. But against Norwich City, no new signings were needed.

Harry Kane came away with a brace in one hour, although if the post didn’t deny him it should have been a hat-trick. Two goals today gave Kane his 17th and 18th goals on the year in all competitions and 15 goals in 18 Premier League games.

As for Kevin Wimmer? He would make his first Premier League start of the season, but his second appearance overall. However, Wimmer would partner up with Toby Alderweireld for the fifth time in all competitions.

And together along with a very stingy defense and an outmatched Canaries team, Tottenham got another clean sheet and beat Norwich 3-0 to pull off the double this term.

From the very beginning, Tottenham were on top of the ball and it only took two minutes for Dele Alli to notch his seventh goal of the season — sixth on the road — in all competitions.

Because of the early goal from Alli, the crowd in Carrow Road were completely taken aback. It was quiet. Everyone was in shock after 120 seconds into the game.

The only noise throughout the stadium came from the away section where thousands of Spurs supporters began singing their hearts out in appreciation for the performance that they were being treated to.

Although it’s become a broken record this entire season and most notably throughout January, Tottenham have once again completely dominated their opponents.

While Norwich came into the match sitting in 17th place and two points above relegation, they managed to put four goals against Liverpool.

So this wasn’t going to be easy by any means. And in the Premier League, no game is easy, but this matchup from start to finish was a breeze.

It took Norwich 45 minutes to finally snap out of it and get into the game. It’s just too bad that the Canaries were already trailing 2-0 after 30 minutes. Making it difficult for themselves.

Still, Alex Neil’s side just needed a goal to get back into this match and Norwich started to show life. Pressure began to build and Spurs started seeing the ball approach their penalty box more often.

In fact, the Canaries started out-possessing Tottenham within the first 10 minutes of the second half, with Spurs’ quality dropping a bit.

This wasn’t much of a concern because Tottenham had already built up a very early 2-0 lead. Unfortunately for Norwich they couldn’t keep up their pressure and continue putting Spurs on their heels. Because eventually Tottenham went back on the assault.

The third goal wouldn’t happen until the 90th minute, but just reclaiming the ball and recycling possession to chew up time was good enough.

This stretched out Norwich’s defense, opened up passing lanes and created chances where Spurs got more shots off. Some were on target, others weren’t but it forced Norwich’s ‘keeper Declan Rudd to make a save.

With Watford coming up in four days, it remains to be seen if any new signings would have helped ease the burden on Tottenham’s squad to rotate between three competitions.

But so far, without added depth, Spurs have begun the month of February on a good note. Earning a very strong and easy win over Norwich City and claiming third place once again in the Premire League. Tottenham are also ahead of fourth-placed Arsenal based on goal difference.
