Spurs’ Transfer Rumors: Fulham’s Moussa Dembélé Might Not Be Sold

facebooktwitterreddit

Are there any transfer rumors regarding Spurs?

The first transfer rumor has Fulham manager Slaviša Jokanović being reluctant to sell Moussa Dembélé. And that’s not a surprise because they’ve had a transfer embargo placed on them, so the Cottagers can’t sign anyone even if they got £6 million from Spurs, or anyone, before the deadline.

And finally, Spurs are showing interest in Leicester City’s N’Golo Kante who plays as a central midfielder. Losing a talented footballer like Kante would hurt the Foxes and will help bolster this position for Mauricio Pochettino as Ryan Mason doesn’t look like he will be fit anytime soon. These are the latest transfer rumors.

Slaviša Jokanović isn’t entertaining the idea of selling French striker, Moussa Dembélé. This won’t hurt Spurs as Mauricio Pochettino he’s stated numerous times that he’s happy with his current squad. Obviously Spurs would benefit with a player like Dembélé playing alongside Harry Kane, but for the time being Tottenham are fine with other players recently scoring.

“There is always speculation about Dembélé and McCormack, but people need to understand Fulham too,” Jokanović said.

“If they are serious people they see we do not need money right now, we need other things, and we are not in a situation where we have to sell our best players.”

“We have seven days or so left and everything will be clearer then but, from my side, I don’t want and I do not make the steps to sell anyone.”

“The plan is to bring in new people and we are looking at the loan market.”

From the very beginning, with a transfer embargo placed on Fulham, selling one of their best players for £6 million (rather than letting him leave for a small compensation fee to a foreign club) would set the Cottagers back this season. Because currently they’re sitting in 19th place in the Championship. And money wouldn’t help Fulham bring new players in since they can’t. All they can do is look for loan deals instead

While the linked article above by the Mirror has Spurs showing interest in Jamie Vardy as well, that’s clearly not going to happen. And although the same could be said for central midfielder N’Golo Kante — which would hurt Claudio Ranieri and Leicester if he was sold — adding in another midfielder to an already crowded group of players isn’t surprising.

Right now, the only thing that anyone knows about Ryan Mason’s current timetable for returning to match fitness is that no one knows when he will return.

Except, maybe Mauricio Pochettino and the training staff who are keeping close tabs on the 24-year-old’s progress.

So it makes sense to sign someone who is in-form and playing top quality football right now, that being N’Golo Kante. But for a player who joined the Foxes last season for £5.5 million, Ranieri wouldn’t sell one of his better players this month.

At the end of the season? Maybe, but still highly unlikely.

That said, N’Golo Kante would be a good pickup as an insurance move if Ryan Mason isn’t deemed fit any time soon — which looks like it will be true for the time being. The only way to combat Mason’s loss is to drop Dele Alli back to his natural position and have Mousa Dembélé and Tom Carroll as cover for Alli.

Otherwise, if Dembélé gets hurt again, it leaves the team very thin at central midfield with just Tom Carroll (if Alli is still playing as an attacking midfielder). Unless that is of course, Harry Winks gets some more looks this season instead.
