It’s time to look at the latest Spurs’ Transfer Rumors out there.

To begin, Sandro Ramírez doesn’t seem to be a target for Spurs as the team has denied any contact with the Spanish Under-21 international. This is just another player that Spurs aren’t going to sign to bolster their striker position so the amount of targets is slowly being whittled down to a select few.

The second transfer rumor is about Spurs’ scout David Pleat recently watching Coventry City’s James Maddison. The 19-year-old attacking midfielder adds another English youth prospect to a growing list of players that Tottenham are interested in. And finally, Watford are still looking to acquire Andros Townsend despite signing Nordim Amrabat from Málaga via the Dutch international’s release clause. These are the latest transfer rumors.

Sky Sports’ Spanish football expert Guillem Balaque held a Q&A to discuss any transfer rumors involving La Liga players who could be moving in and around the Spanish league or across Europe. And with regards to one such player, that being Sandro Ramírez, Guillem Balaque says that nothing is happening on Spurs’ end.

In fact, Barcelona are still waiting for an offer from Tottenham but because the Lilywhites have denied any contact with the Spanish Under-21 international, Sandro will be used in a loan deal with Celta Vigo for Nolito due to Barcelona’s new board putting in an obligation to resign if the club accumulates a certain amount of debt,

"Sandro to Spurs?“Barcelona want an offer for him, but they don’t have one.”“They want to make him part of the deal for Nolito of Celta Vigo, and Spurs deny any contact with Barca regarding Sandro.”"

Even with Christian Eriksen, Alex Pritchard and Josh Onomah already on the squad, Spurs’ scout, David Pleat, has spent some time scouting James Maddison. The 19-year-old attacking midfielder plays for Coventry City.

Now even though Tottenham already have three attacking midfield players on the squad, this looks to be another indication of a team who is not only scouting for young English talent, but it’s to also help build for the future while also adding more depth and competition for current players on the team right now.

Looking over James Maddison’s last two seasons with Coventry City there isn’t much to see at first glance considering that he plays a position which should see a decent-to-good chunk of combined goals (goals and assists) consistently to help contribute to the team.

But instead, it’s more important to see that the 19-year-old is making improvements at getting more playing time. Take a look at Maddison’s past two years below.

2014-15 League One season:

  • 19 games on the matchday squad
  • 2 starts
  • 10 times substituted in
  • 7 games on the bench
  • 17 games not on the matchday squad
  • 2 goals
  • 1 assist

2015-16 League One season:

  • 8 games on the matchday squad
  • 6 starts
  • 2 times substituted in
  • 0 games on the bench
  • 17 games not on the matchday squad
  • 2 goals scored
  • 3 assists

Now here’s the Telegraph’s Matt Law on Spurs’ David Pleat scouting talent and why Tottenham continue to do this despite needing a strike partner for Harry Kane:

“While the main focus of this month’s transfer window is to sign a new frontman, Tottenham continue to watch the country’s brightest young talent as part of their philosophy to develop and promote youth players that has proved successful over the past couple of years.”

“Spurs are among a clutch of clubs who are keen on Charlton Athletic’s 18-year-old striker Ademola Lookman, while David Pleat was spotted in the Ricoh Arena stands to watch Coventry City’s 1-1 draw against Walsall with teenage left-back Rico Henry and midfielder James Maddison believed to be of interest.”

While Watford are close to signing — or have already finalized — a move for Nordim Amrabat of Málaga for £6 million via release clause, the Hornets still want Andros Townsend. And if they’re able to improve on their £10 million bid which was rejected, there’s a good chance that Quique Sánchez Flores can get their guy.

Maybe.

See, Watford have increased their offer to £12 million which isn’t much since it’s just two million more. But seeing as how Andros Townsend’s current season right now with Spurs is truly a lost year, £10-12 million is too much because at best Townsend should be cheaper, considering he hasn’t been able to get any playing time this season.

Interestingly enough, Newcastle United still want to acquire the services of Andros Townsend and are mulling over a £12 million bid. So right now it’s looking like the Magpies and Hornets are the only two clubs who are showing a legitimate interest in the out-of-winger.

A high transfer fee can’t be expected, then again, Daniel Levy can do whatever he wants even when it’s mindbogglingly bad such as this £14 million value for the 24-year-old England international who is phased out completely from the first-team.
