What’s happening on the latest Spurs’ Transfer Rumors? Let’s find out.

Now, until Andros Townsend is sold, he will be the main storyline coming out of Tottenham’s camp when it comes to transfer rumors. This is the first story. That being said, Spurs have a club who’s willing to take the out-of-favor on a loan deal, which is Watford. It’s too bad that Spurs rejected the Hornets’ £10 million bid and want more money plus a permanent transfer. Good luck with that Spurs.

And finally, Rico Henry who was, is and might still be a transfer target for Tottenham has another team showing interest in him and that’s Leicester City. This shouldn’t really affect the Lilywhites but Claudio Ranieri has shown that they’re willing to give their own youth players a chance. Meaning young prospects have another Premier League club besides Tottenham to join and develop. These are the latest rumors.

If Watford had offered just £4 million more they would have gotten their guy in Andros Townsend. Unfortunately, they were slightly off, and got rejected by Spurs. Which isn’t bad in all honesty, because the 24-year-old is in no way worth £14 million.

But whatever right? Daniel Levy can do what he wants.

Now according to Quique Sánchez Flores, Andros Townsend would suit the Hornets due to his characteristics as a player. And what would those be? Here’s the Spanish manager talking about it:

“We have players in the side who can play intelligent football but we need skill, we need velocity.”

“We need to make a balance with these players, and he has the characteristics.”

Ultimately in the end, it all comes down to who blinks first between Spurs and Watford. Do the Hornets finally decide to move on from signing the English winger on a permanent deal or does Tottenham give in and allow the England international to get his loan deal to Watford which is his preferred destination based on an article by the London Evening Standard?

Obviously it’s easier to let Andros Townsend leave now on a loan deal, have him perform well (if he can and/or does) with Watford and then potentially get even more money than the £14 million that Daniel Levy is asking for. Heck, Spurs could actually get that much if Townsend does play well for the Hornets with that team’s current form and the players on the current squad.

So really, a permanent transfer right now for a player who hasn’t done much this season with a high fee on top of that makes it hard for any team looking to bolster their squad with a talented and pacey winger. Unless this was the main point all along? To get desperate clubs to launch an audacious bid for an out-of-favor player who’s English and homegrown? Sneaky if it works out in the end, stupid if it fails horribly.

Technically speaking, Leicester City being interested in a highly sought after 18-year-old left-back shouldn’t hurt Spurs during the winter transfer window. But the fact that Rico Henry has been mentioned as a potential transfer target due to key attributes such as his young age, his nationality and even his position plus abilities and/or quality as a player, maybe there is some slight concern.

Now because of Ben Chilwell doing well and playing the entire 90 minutes against Tottenham on Sunday’s third round FA Cup tie, Arsenal, Chelsea and Livperool are monitoring Chilwell’s availability. Therefore it makes sense that Leicester are looking at left-back options and Henry is one of them.

Granted, with Danny Rose and Ben Davies doing well this season and having an equal amount of playing time during all competitions this term, where or how could Rico Henry fit if he were signed?

Well it’ll be the very same route that Dele Alli took to make his way into the starting eleven after having a crowded central midfield in front of him. Of course injuries definitely helped his rise to superstardom come much quicker that most wouldn’t have expected.

But still, it goes to show that Spurs found a gem in Dele Alli who is still 19-years-old and is one of the team’s young stars that is helping lead Tottenham to remain in fourth place or go even higher this season.

So why couldn’t Rico Henry do the same thing if Danny Rose or Ben Davies got hurt? Not to mention having an extra cup competition to play reserve players during the League Cup. If anything, it makes sense to sign Henry — if Mauricio Pochettino feels that it’ll be the right move for the club of course — and be set at the left-back position for at least a decade.

That’s assuming that Danny Rose and Ben Davies continues to play well and remain with the club for that long until Rico Henry develops into a starter that he will be if he joined Tottenham.
