Conversation Corner: Tottenham Wins Third Game in a Row
To end off the year with a 2-1 win over Watford saw Tottenham Hotspur jump up to third place just for a short time. Following Monday’s game, let’s read what Érik Lamela, Kieran Trippier, Mauricio Pochettino and Son Heung-min had to say courtesy of Spurs TV from Tottenham’s official site.
It’s not often that you’ll see an ending quite like Tottenham’s dramatic finish against Watford. What looked like a goal at first glance, wasn’t due to goal line technology. The ball hadn’t fully crossed the goal line, which was clear as day based on the video.
But to see Spurs sprint up the pitch on a counterattack and Kieran Trippier setting up his first attempt at a cross to an offsides Son Heung-min — which wasn’t called for some reason — almost ended the game in a 1-1 draw because it was denied. That is until Heurelho Gomes punched the ball back towards Trippier’s vicinity to hit Son once more with a cross, who was onside this time and hit a backheel flick between Gomes’ legs.

That goal might not be a nominee for goal of the year, but in terms of game-winning goals during the 2015-16 Barclays Premier League? It has to be within the top five. Especially when you factor in how it was set up in the first place. From Watford’s near-miss to Tottenham getting away with an offsides call and being granted one more opportunity to steal all three points just before added time.
So, with Tottenham’s win at Vicarage Road against Watford, this gave Spurs their third consecutive win and ends the year off with plenty of momentum heading in 2016 against Everton at Goodison Park. Here now to begin our latest edition of Conversation Corner, is Spurs’ first goalscorer of the match, Érik Lamela.
