The Croatian midfielder did a lot of things for Tottenham, but scoring goals often, wasn’t one of them. Luka Modrić only scored 17 goals in 160 appearances for Spurs. His positioning deep in midfield meant he wasn’t expected to contribute much anyway.

This goal came as part of a surprise 4-0 rout of Liverpool on September 18, 2011. If Modrić did score, it was almost always from distance.
