Two big games are on the horizon for Tottenham Hotspur.

It’s never too early to look past R.S.C. Anderlecht tomorrow night and ahead to another north London derby against Arsenal on Sunday. Tottenham are currently shaping up to be one of the toughest teams to beat this season in the Premier League and it starts up top with Mauricio Pochettino and his staff for putting the players in positions to succeed.

Because of this everyone’s confidence is at an all-time high after extending their unbeaten streak to 10 games following a 3-1 win over Aston Villa. Spurs haven’t lost in the Premier League since the season opener at Old Trafford against Manchester United.

One player who believes that Sunday’s game will go in Tottenham’s favor is Harry Kane. Here’s the 22-year-old speaking to the media [quotes taken from the Independent]:

"“We’re playing very well, we’re exciting, we’re a young team and we’ve got a lot of energy, and the wins will just keep giving us that, but there’s still a long way to go so we’ve got to keep trying to learn and improve,” Kane said.Anderlecht (on Thursday) is important for us so we’ve got to stay focused on that for now, but of course, everyone’s excited for the North London derby. It’s a game everyone looks forward to, both teams are playing well so it’ll be good to go and try and get a result. We made a good statement against Man City (in a recent 4-1 victory) and followed that up pretty well with wins so we face Arsenal on Sunday going for the win, and we’re full of confidence and know we can win.The aim is the top four but there’s still a long way to go. We’ve got to stay consistent throughout the whole season, we can’t just have a good start and fade away.”"

It’s hard to fault Harry Kane for feeling as confident as he is right now when Spurs are earning positive results even with two big games coming up in a three day span. Depending on the result against Anderlecht in the Europa League it will have a big impact for Tottenham when they face Arsenal on Sunday.

A win over Anderlecht and Spurs will feel like they could beat anybody and that includes Arsenal. A loss against Anderlecht and questions will be asked if they could make it out of Group J. Especially if the Belgian club pulls off the double and sweeps Spurs in the Europa League group stage in back-to-back games.

Tottenham have only lost three matches in the entire 2015-16 season so far, and one of those loses was against Anderlecht who are second in the Belgian Pro League this year.

Looking ahead is fine for Spurs, they can’t not think about Sunday’s clash against their north London neighbor, it’s one of the biggest derbies in the Premier League.

That being said, Mauricio Pochettino will have his hands full to select a strong lineup for both fixtures. Dropping points to Anderlecht once again could see the Lilywhites drop out of the group stage. Which at the time looked to be a good draw for Tottenham to be paired with Anderlecht, AS Monaco and Qarabağ FK.

Although there might be a small minority who wouldn’t mind dropping out of the Europa League to focus on the Premier League and FA Cup from now on. Losing two competitions very early isn’t good at all, but long term with how the Premier League is looking right now, it might be best to focus on the Premiership more than anything else.

Thursday and Sunday’s games will be a season-defining moment for Tottenham. Two wins for Spurs and they can go as high as they possibly can in the Europa League and Premier League. Splitting both games: a win, a draw or loss, won’t be the end of their European and domestic campaigns but Spurs could suffer a blow to their confidence.
