This game against Arsenal was going to be a big test on a number of occasions. For starters, it’s a North London Derby contested between two clubs who consider each other rivals. The supporters are known for being violent towards one another, although Arsenal fans took it a step further by singing horrendous chants regarding the holocaust and Tottenham’s proud Jewish supporters as well as tearing off Spurs’ banners that fill the stadium. In essence, what was considered a heated rivalry now goes beyond the pitch and into personal territory that could end up worse than it needs to be moving forward.

In terms of on the pitch, and way from off the field issues regarding both fan bases. A short week didn’t help either team, it’s not supposed to. But the lineup that Mauricio Pochettino chose for this game has hurt this club’s momentum after three consecutive wins, one which involved a comeback victory. Overall, two players stood out as so-called scapegoats, Michel Vorm and Federico Fazio. But more so for Fazio due to the defenders mistakes leading to two goals.

It’s not understood why the Argentine center-back was chosen to get a start when he hadn’t played the entire season and got some minutes during Tottenham’s pre-season friendlies only. Whatever the case may be for Pochettino to choose him, it’s unlikely that he goes back to selecting Federico Fazio for the rest of the season.
