Conversation Corner: Tottenham at Sunderland
Dele Alli:
“Dele’s here at the stadium of Light, Dele how important was it to win that game?”
“Yeah y’know it was massive for us. Obviously for our confidence, felt we were playing well in all our other games but haven’t found that killer goal or to get the winner. But happy with a win today.”
“It felt that we kept getting stronger and stronger, we looked like we would win that game didn’t we?”
“Yeah y’know, we know what we can do and we know what we’re capable of and it was just a case of us today getting that goal. We knew that if we kept a clean sheet and a solid back-four and defended well, that goal will come eventually and happy it did.”
“With ten minutes left to go, 0-0, did you think we were going to get that goal with how the season has gone?”
“Yeah y’know, obviously everyone’s on their seats waiting for it to come. And I think that was the case of it today, it was a case of waiting for that moment, for the goal to go through and for the player to finish it and thankfully Ryan Mason did it today.”
“What was the reaction down in the bench when it went in?”
“Y’know obviously everyone was up on their feet, delighted for him to get the goal and to get the win.”
“Turning to you, first Premier League start. Is that an important milestone for you?”
“Yeah y’know obviously, I can’t thank the fans and the players enough for how the season started off for me. And thank the gaffer and the staff over here for how they helped me settle in and the chances they’ve given me. And yeah, obviously I’m thankful and delighted to get my first start.”
“You’re laying down the foundation for yourself aren’t you, onwards and upwards?”
“Yeah y’know obviously got a buzz to keep looking forward. It’s going to be the next challenge obviously to get that next start and against the next team and obviously play well in the next game. “
“Let’s hope so mate, well done.”
“Cheers mate.”
