Which Spurs Players Will Make Way for Son and Eriksen?
By Ryan Wrenn
Tottenham’s newest signing Heung-Min Son has received his work permit and will be available for the matchday squad Sunday against Sunderland.
However much of a foregone conclusion it might have been, news that Son will feature in matchday five is surely welcome to any and all Spurs fans. With three goals scored over the first four games – three of which were draws – Tottenham’s offense has clearly struggled to find any sort of potency. Son’s knack for finding goals could change that.
As could the welcome return of Christian Eriksen. The Danish playmaker’s absence over the last two matches has been palpable. Though it had improved between the matches away to Leicester and home to Everton, the connection between midfield and attack has seemed particularly tenuous. Without Eriksen to drop deep and link up play, Tottenham has failed to find its typical rhythm.
The inclusion of both players does raise some interesting questions about who will start and where however. Eriksen is a must start and Son presumably would be too given his £22 million price tag. That would mean that two of the starting three players that have featured behind Harry Kane would have to be dropped to the bench. But which two? Let’s lay out the arguments for and against.
