Good morning/afternoon/night!

Tottenham travel to Leicester City today in what feels like a must-win match. One or two points from an available nine would likely be unacceptable at every level of the club.

As we covered in our preview of the match yesterday, it could be that Leicester’s hot streak runs into Tottenham’s baseline quality and simply produces a draw. Given Leicester’s impeccable wing play in the opening two games and Tottenham’s capacity for some silky dominance, we can expect that the match will be entertaining even if it ends level.

Squads have been announced, with at least one notable name missing…

Tottenham’s Twitter feed immediately followed up the team sheet with news that Christian Eriksen is out of the matchday squad due to a knee injury. Perfectly legitimate reason of course, but it’s hard not to treat his omission with a little bit of suspicion. It seemed as if the Dane’s rumored link to Juventus earlier in the week had been snubbed out, but his absence today will undoubtedly re-ignite it.

Érik Lamela starts in Eriksen’s place, perhaps hoping that he can prove his worth to the club. He’s also been linked with a move away from north London, though it’s safe to say that most Spurs fans would be more content with seeing the misfiring Argentine leave than Eriksen.

Leicester City’s newest signing, Gorkhan Inler, starts his first week with the club from the bench. The Foxes field an unchanged starting lineup from last week’s win over West Ham.
