Tottenham Loan Coulthirst and Ogilvie
Tottenham have loaned two more promising players today.
After sending both Dominic Ball and Nathan Oduwa to the Scottish Championship and join Rangers’ manager, Mark Warburton — who worked with Alex Pritchard at Brentford last season in the English Championship — two more players have been sent out on loan to get some playing time.
Striker Shaquile Coulthirst, 21, and left/center-back Connor Ogilvie, 19, are going to try and establish some regular minutes away from Tottenham’s Under-21 squad. As of this moment, both players don’t have an immediate future with the current 27-man squad — although it’s possible that Coulthirst might get recalled depending on Mauricio Pochettino’s ability to sign a backup striker.

Shaquile Coulthirst has joined League One club Wigan Athletic until October.
Not surprisingly, the 21-year-old is excited to get started with a new club who could help him get better and crack into Pochettino’s squad in the near future.
While it would be nice to send Coulthirst on loan to a Championship club because of the improved competition than his current club, Wigan Athletic, it could have come down to the fact that he wouldn’t have gotten regular playing time. Perhaps once Coulthirst’s loan ends in October he could go out to another League One club or move up to a Championship club.
As for Connor Ogilvie, he joins League Two club Stevenage for a one-month loan.
This is an interesting loan because it’s only for one month. An assumption would be that Ogilvie’s only chance to get regular playing time is for a month and then he goes back out on loan to another club. Whether that’ll be to a League Two, League One or Championship club is unknown, but at 19-years-old he has plenty of time to get more loans and become better within a couple of years.
At the very least, Connor Ogilvie is excited to play for Stevange.
So far, Tottenham has been able to loan four players who are able to hopefully get enough playing time. It’s a little worrisome that the one player who needs a loan but can’t get guaranteed minutes is Miloš Veljković, who has gone on loan twice with no success upon returning to Tottenham.

At the current pace that Mauricio Pochettino has been able to find clubs willing to take Tottenham’s youth players, within a few years another batch of four to five youngsters will try to make it onto the first team.
It’s possible that the entire squad will mostly be academy graduates within a few years, with other young stars from around the world sprinkled in. Mauricio Pochettino and Paul Mitchell’s plan of establishing a solid foundation with core young players will be a very cost friendly way to run a football club. It won’t be good for Champions League football just yet, perhaps for the Europa League, but it’s going to be Tottenham’s way for a while now.
Here’s hoping that these kids are not only Tottenham’s present and future, but will be able to win championships along the way.
