The 28-year-old Belgian midfielder is one player who hasn’t been sold after three of his teammates were: Paulinho, Étienne Capoue and Benjamin Stambouli.
Because of the recent sales of the aforementioned names, it wouldn’t have been surprising if Mousa Dembélé was next. But it seems that Mauricio Pochettino thinks otherwise especially after a reported meeting between the Belgian and Argentine.
Although most of his starts came off the bench as a substitute, that alone is enough to judge that Dembélé has a future in Pochettino’s offense — even if he isn’t starting. His role is now a half-time sub and spot starter in cup competitions and Europa League.
By staying, Mousa Dembélé would repeat this and become a solid depth player to have.
