Belgians Linked to Tottenham
Tottenham midfielder Nacer Chadli would like his Belgian teammates to play for Spurs.
The three in question are Christian Benteke, Toby Alderweireld and Radja Nainggolan.
Tottenham have been linked to Christian Benteke but with his release clause being £32.5 million, it’ll be difficult to pull of this type of signing let alone go through with it.
While Benteke would be a good addition to this Spurs squad, there’s no certainty that he’ll start in place of Harry Kane unless there was a formation change.
The good news however, is that he wants a move away from Aston Villa and would be open to the idea of playing in either of Europe’s elite competitions. Those two alone, should be more than enough to persuade him to join Tottenham.
But with good news, comes the bad news. Nacer Chadli regarding Christian Benteke:
"“I hope it’s going to happen but first they have to attract him and there are a lot of clubs who want him – and Christian has to make his choice. Hopefully he’s going to choose for us.”"
With that being said, it’s only a matter of time until a Christian Benteke move from the West Midlands to North London dies down.
The entire premise of this transfer to go through rests in his release clause and if Tim Sherwood would be willing to sell his best player to his former club.
As for Toby Alderweireld, Tottenham would have to wait and see if Atlético Madrid are willing to sell the central defender. If Atlético does indeed sell Alderweireld, then it would be a two step process.
First, Toby would have to reject a move to resign with Southampton, who he was loaned to during the 2014-15 season. Second, Toby Alderweireld’s transfer fee would cost £14 million. The fee itself isn’t bad, but getting his parent club to sell the defender will be the most difficult part.
Nacer Chadli with some thoughts on Toby Alderweireld:
"“Toby is also a very good player. He did very well with Southampton this season, he still has a contract with Atlético. I don’t know if they attract him but hopefully [Tottenham] can make it.”"
If Tottenham have money, a move for Toby Alderweireld should happen.
Finally, Radja Nainggolan has let it be known that he keeps tabs on his fellow countrymen when he openly admitted to watching the Premier League but mostly Chelsea and Spurs games. “It’s certainly the most talked-about competition in the world. I regularly watch the games of my Belgian friends at Chelsea and Spurs, and there are a lot of world-class players,” said Nainggolan.
Manchester United were linked with a £26 million move for the Belgian international.

Although about a month ago when Tottenham were also linked to Radja Naianggolan the co-owners of his contract, Cagliari and Roma, came to the conclusion he would cost €40 million (£28.5 million). Obviously that would be too much for Tottenham, unless of course the players that are sold would be enough to consider this move.
Nacer Chadli on Radja Nainggolan:
"“Radja is a very good player, strong and he’s now playing for Roma so I think it might be difficult for Tottenham to attract him but why not? It would be good to play with him on the pitch.”"
Should any combination of these deals go through, Tottenham could be looking at a total of £75 million being spent. All three players would help boost a squad that was close to a top four finish but ultimately tailed towards the end of the season.
