Tottenham LGBT team ‘Proud Lilywhites’ beat Arsenal’s ‘Gay Gooners’ 7-1.

In an incredible victory, Tottenham Hotspur’s LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) squad recently defeated Arsenal’s ‘Gay Gooners’ 7-1. Refereed by ex Tottenham Hotspur player Stephen Freund, the match served to spread awareness of discrimination against LGBT and encouraging fans to unite and stand against this form of prejudice within the premier league. Matches like these also aim to engage more and more youths of non heterosexual orientations into getting involved in football.
LGB&T fan groups will go a long way toward creating a tolerant and safe environment while providing an equality of social experience for all fans to freely enjoy the excitement of being a proud supporter of their Club.
Tottenham Hotspur’s own side are dubbed ‘The Proud Lilywhites‘ , a gay supporters fan group which collaborates with the Gay Football Supporters’ Network. It was formed in March 2014 in order to serve as a means for encourage and support diverse sexual orientations within the Tottenham Hotspur football club. “LGB&T fan groups will go a long way toward creating a tolerant and safe environment while providing an equality of social experience for all fans to freely enjoy the excitement of being a proud supporter of their Club.”
The Club’s support of Kick It Out and Football v Homophobia month provides us with a perfect platform to continue to spread the message that discrimination against anyone’s sexuality or gender is unacceptable within the game.
Chris Paouros, the side’s co -chair commented. “We are delighted with the support we have received from the Club and organisations like Kick It Out over the past year. The Club’s support of Kick It Out and Football v Homophobia month provides us with a perfect platform to continue to spread the message that discrimination against anyone’s sexuality or gender is unacceptable within the game.”
Such a victory is encouraging for the upcoming North London Derby on Saturday.
