Memphis Depay – Trail Of Rumours On Tottenham Transfer

The paper trail of rumours and speculation surrounding the possible transfer of Memphis Depay, the PSV Eindhoven and Holland winger, to Tottenham.
Memphis Depay had been mentioned as a possible transfer interest for Tottenham in June during the World Cup Finals. The story had gone quiet until last week when there were suggestions of Spurs interest in signing Depay from the Dutch club.
Tuesday

On Tuesday, Goal reported that Tottenham were preparing to make an offer of £15m for Memphis Depay while tweets from the Dutch media reported Depay to be considering his options about his future.
No sooner had that story been posted than further tweets from the same source Dutch Football (@football_oranje) suggested that there had been no bid by Tottenham for Depay.
Wednesday
Yesterday afternoon, media reports in Belgium took the story further, suggesting that Tottenham had had an offer accepted by PSV and that Nacer Chadli would be returning to the Dutch League with PSV Eindhoven, as part of the deal.
The Daily Express reported that PSV were willing to accept a £15 million bid for Memphis Depay to aid their transfer activity.
The Star reported that Tottenham were preparing a bid for Depay.
According to the Daily Mirror, their understanding was that Tottenham had had an offer accepted for Memphis Depay with Nacer Chadli included. The deal for Memphis Depay to join Tottenham was £10m plus Nacer Chadli.
Then the PSV director Marcel Brands confirmed to the Dutch press, de Telegraaf, that they had not received any bids for Depay and were wanting to keep the Dutch international.
"We haven’t heard anything from Spurs for Depay. We don’t want to sell."
In a tweet, Adam Suter brought caution to the speculation surrounding the news about Depay. He tweeted,
"Depay is a player on our list but not being considered ATM, no bid so far."
The Guardian reported that Mauricio Pochettino was considering a £15m bid for Depay.
According to a local journalist in Holland, Rik Elfrink, he reported that PSV had been very clear that they weren’t prepared to sell Memphis Depay for less than €20m.
The Daily Mail claimed that Tottenham had made a bid of £9M plus Chadli for Depay and that PSV were willing to accept the offer.
Today
The Mirror reported that Tottenham were confident of signing Memphis Depay, but that Nacer Chadli was unwilling to leave in a part-exchange.
A report from @IBTimes reported Tottenham would complete the signing of Depay after their £10m bid had been accepted.
PSV’s director of football speaking about Spurs’ reported interest in Depay, said,
"We’ve heard nothing about it. No offer has been made yet but interest seems real."
When asked if he’d consider selling Depay, he commented,
"At this moment, absolutely not."
Sky Sports News reported genuine interest from Tottenham in the PSV winger.
The Evening Standard‘s understanding of the situation was that Tottenham are to offer over £15 million to PSV for Depay.

In a further tweet he reported that, Depay is in the PSV squad for their Europa League match against Austrian side SKN St. Pölten this evening and that he is fully focused on the game.
That the confusing situation of any possible transfer of Memphis Depay to White Hart Lane. How it will pan out, we will have to wait and see.
Now, what about Mateo Musacchio – a transfer which on Friday evening would be completed within hours, according to some reports. Don’t get me started on that!
