The constantly changing situation surrounding the possible transfer of Morgan Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez to Tottenham has brought differing views.

Jay Rodriguez and Morgan Schneiderlin are not for sale

Morgan Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez appeared set to complete a move to Spurs according to yesterday morning’s media reports. An interview in the afternoon by the Southampton chairman, Ralph Krueger, however, changed the sutuation dramatically. He stated categorically that neither Schneiderlin nor Rodriguez would be leaving the St. Mary’s Stadium, dashing Schneiderlin’s hopes and Tottenham’s transfer ambitions.

Morgan Schneiderlin later posted a tweet expressing his displeasure at the situation.

He was not satisfied with the outcome as the former England cricket captain, tweeted on seeing Schneiderlin in his hotel in Southampton,

Immediately after the comments made by the Southampton chairman, there was speculation that the players, but especially Morgan Schneiderlin, could attempt to force through a move away from the club. This brought contrasting views on the situation.

Latest Update:

It is now being reported that Morgan Schneiderlin has handed in a transfer request this morning after meeting manager Ronald Koeman at the training ground. He has told Southampton that he wants to join Tottenham according to sources at Sky. It was thought that the France international would also refuse to train with the club but it’s uncertain whether he carried out that threat.

Morning Press Update

This morning’s papers continue to report that Tottenham retain their interest in Morgan Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez. It is thought that Schneiderlin could attempt to force his way out of Southampton by requesting a transfer. The immediate focus is on Schneiderlin as the uncertainty surrounding Rodriguez’s recovery from injury makes his transfer more difficult.

The Telegraph understand that Morgan Schneiderlin has told Southampton that he wants to join Tottenham who remain interested in Schneiderlin and Rodriguez. Spurs, however, realise that both players may need to put in a transfer request to force a move away from the Saints.

More from Tottenham News

Journalist Greg Stobart is reporting on Goal.com that Schneiderlin is ready to submit a transfer request to force a move to Tottenham, claiming that broken promises are behind the France midfielder’s Twitter outburst.

The Daily Mail also understand Morgan Schneiderlin is set to hand in a transfer request to push through his move to Tottenham who have bid £13m for Morgan Schneiderlin whilst Southampton value him at £27m.

If the suggested figures on Tottenham’s offer are accurate, that could also explain Southampton’s decision to dig in their heels on the proposed transfer as could the pressure from the Southampton fans who have seen their team from last year totally deconstructed.

This is a story which looks set to run for some time.
