The latest Tottenham transfer rumours renew Spurs interest in a number of players – Ben Davies the Swansea left back, the experienced midfielder Esteban Cambiasso and striker Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.

In recent days there have been numerous Tottenham transfer rumours as the club has been linked with players for a variety of positions. Some of the stories have revived speculation on players that Tottenham have been linked with previously.

Ben Davies

It is generally accepted that Tottenham are looking to sign a left back and over the past weeks have been linked with different players. The report in the Mirror suggests that Spurs have made a bid of £8m for Ben Davies the Swansea and Wales full back. Davies is 21 years of age and has played for Swansea in the Premier League for the past two seasons with 70 appearances in the Premier League. Having been linked with full backs across Europe, including Alberto Moreno from Sevilla, Davies would be the cheaper option for Spurs and he has the experience of having played in the Premier League.

 Alvaro Morata

Last summer Tottenham attempted to include Alvaro Morata as part of the negotiations which took Gareth Bale to Real Madrid. Nothing came of that but now, according to the Daily Express, Spurs are reviving their interest in the young striker who came off the bench for Real in their win in the Champions League Final. There is stiff competition for Morata as Juventus are keen to sign him with an offer of £16m and he is also a target for Arsenal.

Esteban Cambiasso

More from Tottenham News

Tottenham continue to be linked with the experienced former Arentine international midfield player Esteban Cambiasso. He is seen in the report in the Daily Express, as a player to bring experience to the Tottenham midfield and could be signed on a free from Inter Milan. The 33-year-old seems an unlikely signing given Tottenham’s abundance of midfield players. Whether there is any substance in the story is uncertain or whether it is based simply on speculation with the Argentine connection with Mauricio Pochettino, we will have to wait and see.

Dejan Lovren

Tottenham interest in Southampton players seems to have been reduced to the possibility of central defender Dejan Lovren following Pochettino from the south coast according to the Mirror. With Southampton having already sold Ricky Lambert to Liverpool, Luke Shaw to Manchester United and possibly Adam Lallana to Liverpool, there will come a point where they will say, “No more!”

The 24 year-old, Croatian international has returned from the World Cup so negotiations could possibly develop in the coming days with the Mirror reporting interest from Spurs and Liverpool. It is thought that Lovren could be keen to link up with Pochettino having had a successful season under him at St.Mary’s.

Javier Hernandez

Tottenham have been linked with Javier Hernandez from Manchester United over the past year. The Daily Express reports that both Arsenal and Spurs could be interested in him, now that the Mexico striker has suggested that he could leave Old Trafford after the Word Cup.

Erik Lamela

There is general agreement across a number of papers that Erik Lamela will not be leaving Tottenham this summer. The Sun reported that he would be remaining at Spurs even though his first season had been blighted by injury and poor form, having had little opportunity to play regularly. The Evening Standard report that Inter Milan who have been linked with Lamela for much of the summer have given up in their attempts to sign him. Inter had been hoping to lure Lamela back to Italy  but have accepted that Spurs are not prepared to sell their record signing from last summer. Lamela has worked hard in the past weeks on his fitness, in preparation for the coming season and has impressed the staff at Tottenham.

Michael Dawson

Rumours continue to link Michael Dawson with a move to Hull City. Having signed Tom Huddlestone last season and made Jake Livermore’s on-loan move a permanent deal last weekend, Steve Bruce is looking to make it three former Tottenham players at Hull as they prepare for the new season which will include European football for the first time, starting at the end of July. The Evening Standard is following up on a story from the local Hull press.

Earlier reports of Tottenham interest in several players appear unfounded with news of Adam Lallana and Divock Origi set to complete moves to Liverpool, the latter according to the French paper, L’Equipe.

With Mauricio Pochettino taking control of the Tottenham players for the first time next week, the situation may become clearer as the pre-season training programme progresses and the new manager gets a better idea of how the players will fit into his plans for the season ahead.
