Ange Postecoglou's birthday: What we've learned during his time at Tottenham
By Tom Vinall
Today is Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou's 59th birthday. It is safe to say we know more about Ange than we did on his 58th birthday. So let's take a look at what we have learned during his time in the Spurs dugout so far.
We most certainly know that Ange will stick to his principles no matter what. The infamous defeat to Chelsea last November shows that Ange is never going to change his style, regardless of any adversity suffered. He lives and dies by his philosophy, for better or for worse.
Managers in the past have spoken about how they would lose the buy-in from their players if they were to change their style of play based on their opponents, and don't think it looks good on them if they let opposition sides dictate their own style of play. It is clear to see Ange thinks similarly, even if those exact words have not come out of his mouth.
We know that his football will be entertaining. Celtic fans had said how good the football was, but some had doubts over whether or not he could play such expansive football in the Premier League. That question was swiftly answered, with Spurs often purring offensively under Ange.
In the game against Everton, Spurs had six opta-defined big chances, and that won't include Maddison failing to trap the ball after Romero put him one-on-one. After two game weeks, only Liverpool have had more big chances in the Premier League than Spurs this season.

We have learned that Ange is a proper disciplinarian, as the saga with Yves Bissouma has shown. It doesn't matter how good you are, if your conduct is not up to the standard he demands, you will be reprimanded.
We now know that Ange is a very ruthless player. Spurs have been better at getting rid of deadwood since Ange came in than they have been for a long time. Despite Spurs having no available central defenders for a time last season, the Spurs manager only started Eric Dier once, mostly opting for full-backs in central defence instead.
By January, Dier was out of the door. Other deadwood such as Emerson Royal and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg were moved on this summer, and the likes of Giovani Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilon have been told they are not part of the plans and will not be involved despite still being contracted to the club.
We know that Ange wants to win, and will only be happy once he has brought long-awaited silverware to Spurs. He has made no secret of the fact that he usually wins things in his second season, so let's all hope that trend continues.
