December is off to a good start for Tottenham following their 5-0 win over Swansea City at White Hart Lane.

Last weekend a good first half performance from Tottenham against Chelsea, which included a great goal by Christian Eriksen from 18 yards out would be all for naught.

The Blues would score twice unanswered and leave Stamford Bridge as the victors sending Spurs packing with only one win in 10 attempts. It was a feeling that Eriksen called “bitter” to have the game within their grasps and get on the scoreboard, only to lose it all in 46 minutes.

With Swansea City coming to White Hart Lane yesterday, a whole week of practice and an out of form team was what Spurs needed. The players all responded well in training and showed it on the pitch scoring five times.

Christian Eriksen made sure that Tottenham would be victorious this time around by capping off the team’s 3-0 lead to a 5-0 scoreline with a brace.

A result that needed to happen. Spurs needed to get back to winning ways and they did that in emphatic fashion against a Swansea side who were susceptible to conceding multiple goals.

“We had to bounce back and we did that in a very good way,” Eriksen said on Spurs’ official website.

“At Chelsea the first half was very good, the best we’ve played in a while, but we still ended up losing. Of course, you do anything to bounce back and we did that.”

“We played well, we stretched them [Swansea] out, had chances in the first half and even more in the second half and we kept going. It was a good day.”

Indeed, this was a game that Mauricio Pochettino’s side didn’t ease off of.

After scoring a backbreaking penalty on the Swans that drove the air out of them, Tottenham kept attacking. Son Heung-Min would double Spurs’ lead with an acrobatic finish — the highlight of the five goals scored.

With 45 minutes completed and 45 more left, it would have been normal to see Spurs relax a little, play keep away by maintaining possession and push forward if there were any openings. Instead, Spurs made sure that Bob Bradley’s team wouldn’t come back late like they did against Crystal Palace on their way to a 5-4 win. That wouldn’t happen for a second consecutive game.

Harry Kane tacked on a third goal nine minutes after the interval while Eriksen pushed the lead to four in the 70th minute. A goal that the Danish international has already claimed to be one of his top three goals scored for Spurs.

When you can score with your eyes closed by jumping blindly into the air so you don’t get kicked in the head, it makes sense to automatically make a blind header be one of your top goals scored in your career.

“I think it’s straight in to the top three of the best goals I’ve scored for Spurs!” Christian Eriksen said. “It was a smart jump, I closed my eyes and luckily, it went in! I put my head to the side to make sure I didn’t get kicked in the head and made sure he [Jordi Amat] hit me with the ball!”

After already extending Spurs’ four-goal lead, the 24-year-old midfielder would finish the rout over Swansea with Tottenham’s fifth goal in stoppage time. Spurs would begin December with a win and celebrating a much better feeling than the team suffered through last Saturday.

“Chelsea was a nice goal but you don’t get any feeling out of it, this time we get the three points and two goals for me, so we’re all happy.” Eriksen added.
