Spurs stalwart deal to be automatically extended
By Tom Vinall
Per Ben Jacobs, Tottenham Hotspur are set to trigger a one year contract extension onto the Spurs captain's remaining contract.
Son's current contract is set to expire in 2025, but this club extension will keep him in North London for at least another two years from now.
Son signed his current deal back in 2021, a move that recieved several plaudits regarding Son's loyalty, especially as it was at the height of a Harry Kane transfer saga.
It was followed by his most productive season in a Spurs shirt, at the time and still now, with the Spurs number 7 scoring 23 goals in the Premier League to share the golden boot with Mo Salah of Liverpool.
Although there hasn't really been much noise about Son leaving Spurs, there may have been some slight concern if he was to enter the season without a contract extension and thus entering the final 12 months of his contract.

Spurs stalwart deal to be automatically extended
This extension can give Spurs fans and staff some very welcome calmness and clarity over the captain's future at the club, the player and club can now move forward together and to try and achieve their goals.
Heung Min-Son joined Spurs all the way back in 2015, and has scored 162 goals in 408 appearances in a Spurs shirt. In 2023, Son became the first Asian player to ever score 100 goals in the Premier League, and he has added a further 20 goals since then.
His 162 goals are enough to put him 5th in the all-time top scorers list for Spurs. If he adds 13 goals to his tally this season, he will overtake Martin Chivers into 4th place.
And with the aforementioned 408 appearances, if Son was to make 30 appearances for Spurs this season, he would join the club's top 10 appearances makers ever. If he makes 40 appearances, he will overtake former long-term team-mate Hugo Lloris into 7th place on the list.
