Tottenham have produced some truly exceptional players and they have been known to raise a lot of money through player sales to big clubs. That said, who are the 5 most expensive Tottenham Hotspur sales of all-time?

The 5 most expensive Tottenham Hotspur sales of all-time

For continuity purposes, all transfer fees will be taken from Transfermarkt.

1. Gareth Bale (€101m)

Perhaps one of the greatest Tottenham Hotspur players of all-time, Gareth Bale holds the record for the most expensive player to leave Spurs. The Welshman spent six years with Tottenham after joining from Southampton and with Spurs, he became one of the best players in the world.

Hence why he was signed by Real Madrid in 2013 for a massive fee of €101m. It later became known that he was not as influential in the Spanish capital as he was the English capital.

2. Harry Kane (€95m)

From one Tottenham Hotspur legend to another, Harry Kane is the second most expensive Tottenham sale throughout history. The Englishman who makes the greatest Tottenham lineup of all-time was close to breaking the Premier League goal-scoring record before he was sold in 2023 to Bayern Munich.

€95m was an offer which was essentially too big for Tottenham to refuse, particularly with only a year remaining on his North London deal at the time.

3. Kyle Walker (€52.7m)

Kyle Walker is mostly known for representing Man City and it is understandable given the incredible legacy he has left there. However, he was an exceptional full-back for Tottenham too. He spent eight years in North London, making an impressive 183 Premier League appearances.

In 2018, though, Kyle Walker was sold by Tottenham to Man City for €52.7m and the rest, as they say, is history.

4. Dimitar Berbatov (€38m)

One of the most underrated players of all-time, Bulgaria international Dimitar Berbatov spent two years with Tottenham Hotspur, making 70 Premier League appearances and winning the League Cup. In 2009, Berbatov was sold by Tottenham to Manchester United for €38m.

He played for Man United in their successful period and he won two Premier League titles at Old Trafford.

5. Luka Modric (€35m)

Last but certainly not least, Luka Modric is the fifth most expensive Tottenham Hotspur sale of all-time. The Croatia international has left behind a remarkable career but it was the 127 Premier League appearances he made for Tottenham Hotspur which truly propelled his career.

One of the best Premier League midfielders in history, Luka Modric certainly earned his €35m move to Real Madrid in 2012.
