Ange Postecoglou blamed for Tottenham’s issues due to his attitude
A pundit has blamed Ange Postecoglou’s arrogance for Tottenham’s poor run of form following their recent defeat to Brighton.
Tottenham’s recent rough patch has stirred up a fair bit of criticism, with football pundit Don Hutchison putting the blame squarely on Ange Postecoglou's tactics. He’s gone as far as to say that the Aussie manager’s arrogance might be the main reason behind Spurs' dip in form.
After Spurs' disappointing loss to Brighton, Hutchison voiced his concerns over Postecoglou's tactical stubbornness and failure to manage games effectively.
In his post-match press conference, Postecoglou didn’t shy away from addressing his team's second-half collapse against Brighton.
He admitted that Spurs lacked intensity and belief, calling it the most disappointing performance he has witnessed during his time at the club. While taking responsibility for the defeat, Postecoglou also made it clear that it’s his job to ensure that his players bounce back stronger.
Despite the manager's acknowledgment of his side's shortcomings, Hutchison was quick to highlight what he sees as a deeper issue within Postecoglou's philosophy.

Speaking to Optus Sport, Hutchison criticised the Spurs boss for being too obsessed with attacking play, suggesting that Postecoglou's desire to outshine the defensive tactics of his predecessors, Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho, has left Tottenham vulnerable.
Hutchison’s main point was that Postecoglou’s reluctance to adapt his tactics mid-game shows a level of arrogance.
He suggested that the Australian is so determined to play an entertaining brand of football that he’s unwilling to compromise, even when the situation calls for a more pragmatic approach.
According to Hutchison, this refusal to instill some defensive discipline cost Tottenham dearly against Brighton.
Hutchison questioned why, when Tottenham were leading 2-1, the likes of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven didn’t pull in Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro to tighten up the defence.
He argued that Postecoglou's insistence on pushing forward at all costs leads to a chaotic approach, which often sees Spurs lose control of games.
However, it’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time Tottenham have struggled with game management.
Under previous managers like Mourinho and Conte, Spurs also faced criticism for failing to hold onto leads, often sitting back too much and inviting pressure.
Many fans were frustrated by the overly defensive tactics during those eras, which led to similar outcomes.
