Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou braces for potential team departure
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is at risk of losing a very important member of the team, according to a recent report.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou might soon be dealing with the loss of another valuable member of his coaching staff, as Belgian club Anderlecht have reportedly set their sights on Ryan Mason to take over as their new manager.
This potential departure could disrupt the momentum that Postecoglou has been building since his arrival at Spurs.
This situation follows a similar scenario from the summer, when Postecoglou lost his trusted assistant, Chris Davies, who left to become the manager at Birmingham City.
To fill that gap, the Tottenham boss brought in Nick Montgomery and Sergio Raimundo, both of whom have settled in well at the club.
Now, with Anderlecht’s interest in Ryan Mason, Postecoglou may be facing another upheaval within his backroom team.
The Belgian club recently dismissed their head coach, Brian Riemer, on 18 September 2024, and have been actively searching for a successor.

According to reports from journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Anderlecht have now identified Mason as their top candidate for the job.
Tavolieri revealed on social media that Mason is the coach Anderlecht want to lead the team, highlighting the club's ambition to secure his services as quickly as possible.
Mason’s experience at Tottenham cannot be underestimated. He’s stepped up as caretaker manager on two occasions, leading the team with composure and tactical acumen during transitional periods.
Losing Mason at this point would be a tough pill to swallow for Postecoglou. He’s always stressed the importance of having a solid, well-connected coaching team that really gets his methods and way of playing.
If Mason decides to move on, it’ll be vital for Postecoglou to find a replacement who can not only replicate Mason's tactical knowledge but also buy into the long-term vision he has for Tottenham.
That said, it’s unlikely Postecoglou will be quick to make a new appointment if Mason leaves. He’s known for being patient and thoughtful in his decision-making, so it’s expected he’ll take his time to find the right fit for the role.
In fact, he might hold off until the New Year to bring someone in, making sure that any new addition really aligns with his long-term plans for the club.
