On Saturday night, Tottenham Hotspur defender Radu Dragusin and his Romanian counterparts were in nations league action, as they traveled to Cyprus for this one. As usual, Dragusin partnered Andrei Burca at the heart of the Romanian defence for this showdown.

It would be the dream start for Dragusin's side, racing into a two goal lead, just after the midway stage of the first half with two goals in a seven minute period.

Just 11 minutes later, Dragusin would add to that lead himself with a header from point blank range following a corner, to score his first goal for his country on the night of his 24th cap. This would take his side into the break with a healthy 3-0 lead. The defender had also made; two clearances, an interception, and completed 2/2 long balls in the first half.

The Spurs defender would be given some rest after 82 minutes, being replaced by Virgil Ghita to ensure a win, goal, and clean sheet for himself. His team mates would see the game out to make sure of the collective clean sheet too.

Over the 82 minutes he was on the pitch, Dragusin recorded; two clearances, an interception, a tackle, 52 touches, 41/42 passes, 2/2 long balls, 2/3 ground duels won, 1/2 aerial duels won, one foul drawn, and of course a goal to go with it.

Pretty safe to say this is exactly what the 22-year old needed after his personal nightmare against Qarabag in the Europa League. Great to see, and he will be needed again at points this season, there is no doubt about that. Maybe even as soon as the game against West Ham United, with Cristian Romero playing in the early hours of BST on Wednesday morning.

This win leaves Romania top of their nations league group with nine points, having now beaten all three of their group opponents. Next up is another nations league game against rock bottom Lithuania on Tuesday night, with kick off for that one being 19:45 BST.
