Real Betis president Angel Haro has confirmed that the La Liga club will explore a move to re-sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso this summer.

With Lo Celso struggling to get much game time last season and now having just a year left on his contract, it seems inevitable that the Argentine’s five-year spell at the North London club would come to an end this summer.

In recent weeks, various Spanish sources have speculated about the midfielder's potential return to Betis. El Mira reported last week that the La Liga club has already conducted 'official meetings' with Spurs regarding a deal to bring the 28-year-old back. The report also mentioned that the Argentine international is Betis’ 'primary target' for the summer and that the player is eager to return to his former club.

Haro has now confirmed that the Tottenham man has long been on the club’s radar, but he insisted that no offer has been sent for the midfielder so far. When asked about the rumored interest in Lo Celso, the Betis president said: “It is recurring every summer that Lo Celso’s name appears because we remember the good year he had here. However, now there is no proposal or offer. I like him, but there is nothing.”

Lo Celso, who initially joined Tottenham from Real Betis in 2019, has had a mixed spell in England. Despite showing glimpses of his talent, injuries and inconsistent form have prevented him from securing a regular spot in the starting XI. His lack of game time last season has fueled speculation that his departure is imminent, with Betis seemingly the most likely destination.

Given Lo Celso's fond memories of his time at Betis, where he enjoyed a successful loan spell before his permanent move to Tottenham, a return to Estadio Benito Villamarin would likely appeal to him. During his stint at Betis, he was a key player, contributing significantly to the team's performances in both domestic and European competitions.

One would expect an official approach to arrive from Betis quite early in the transfer window, and Spurs will likely not stand in Lo Celso’s way if he makes it clear that he wants to return to Spain. For Tottenham, offloading the midfielder would not only free up wages but could also provide some funds to reinvest in the squad.
