Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has said during commentary that he gets nervous watching Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, in particular when it comes to commanding his own box during set-piece situations.

Before the start of the season, the Premier League introduced a rule where they would be clamping down on fouls against keepers in set-piece situations, and until yesterday Spurs had seemed to benefit from this rule so far in the 24/25 season, having suffered multiple times from set pieces last season - but it became a topic of discussion again yesterday.

Vicario's presence, or lack thereof, when it comes to set pieces, was highlighted by many once again yesterday, as Gabriel was able to nod home unmarked from just a few yards out to score the only goal of the 196th North London derby yesterday.

Neville was a co-commentator for the game on Sky Sports, along with main commentator Peter Drury, and said in the aftermath:

"I just don't like it when goalkeepers are sort of throwing their arms around and look like they're panicking at all.. it makes me nervous. Look at him. He's got frogs in his pants."

Whilst the topic of Vicario has been discussed, the general consensus amongst the Spurs fanbase is that Romero was more to blame and that there would be no discourse around Vicario if the Argentine defender hadn't let Gabriel run free to score a header from just yards out.

Something that has also been noticed is that there was not much room for Vicario to move into regardless. Maddison was paying so much attention to Ben White, clearly conscious of White's attempts to loosen Vicario's gloves in the previous North London derby, that he was inadvertently blocking any room for his goalkeeper to come and attempt to claim the ball in any case.
